    This is bigger than we think. Now if they would allow us to easily use songs from Apple Music in videos, or have some kind of licensing model, that would change the game.

    This is why Apple needs to stop with the annual major releases. Instead, they should adopt the Google model where they update apps, minor and major releases at their own cadence. Stop focusing on the “must release in September” milestone, and introduce whatever they have ready whenever it is done.
    They can still do their PR stuff to build anticipation for what is coming; just don’t add any dates.
    Thing is, the iOS updates have always been tied to the new iPhone, and they have always shipped together for as long as I can remember. Several features of the latest and greatest iOS will only work on the new phones so it only makes sense that they are released at the same time.

    I’ve been saying that Apple should buy Blackmagic Design for a while now but then again, I’m sure they use Red cameras for their productions but it would just make sense. I’m sure BM have been approached by several big players and it just feels sense for Apple to buy them before anyone else does.
