I can see the value of moving to Arm for mobile devices such as MacBooks, because of the (presumably) drop in power requirements. For desktop devices, it might be a win for Apple’s bottom line, there’s nothing advantageous for the end user in the switch unless you are real concerned about power usage. Plus all your legacy software is kaput - Apple for sure won’t be providing any kind of compatibility layer, ‘cos that’s what they’re like nowadays.

For example just bought 2 sets of AirPod pros for $220 each with $22 for AppleCare from Costco with 5% CB. 

I rarely buy stuff directly from Apple - B&H’s PayBoo card means as a California resident II save around 8% and sales elsewhere are also meaningful. If I buy Apple products online from Apple or at an Apple store  I know I’ll be paying top dollar.

Interesting article. Regarding the introduction of the iPad 4 so soon after the iPad 3, my recollection is that it caused a near riot in some circles. I don’t imagine they’ll do that here - the lidar component is probably there for an as-yet unannounced app probably to debut with the iPhone 11

The 12.9" really is a specialized tablet, as much as Apple is trying to push it for general use. I have the 11" Pro and without some need for graphics content generation/manipulation I can't imagine having it for general use - just too big and heavy.
