  • Apple working on M6 & M7 chips alongside new AI server processor

No need for a MacBook Pro redesign. It’s pretty much perfect in its most recent form.

Hopefully m5 cranks things up. But the real story with be with m6.
What’s expected from M6? Why is it going to be so much better?

Ok. You got me. It may not be “so much better” depending on the choices they mske. But it’s expected to be the first apple silicon on tsmcs 2nm process, enabling a greater amount of performance per watt and run cooler. Or it could enable Apple to pack in a ton more transistors. It’s only a 1 nm difference, but even that has potential to mske a substantial difference. Then again, they could just do a die shrink with minimal design chsnges. However, at the expense of the new process, that is not likely.

The current form is terrible with the unnecessary notch.  In an Enterprise environment with lots of required software that runs in the menu bar, icons are constantly hidden by the notch and users don't know what to do to find and move the icons.
As Wesley said, there are ways around a cluttered menu bar. But I was talking about the laptop redesign. Not a screen. Apple could do something different with the display without having to redesign the entire laptop. Likewise, they could keep the notch without issue. It’s a great design currently and is timeless, much like Porsche automobiles. Once you hit prrr ruin, uou don’t change just to change.

  • Apple appeals $570 million antitrust fine, says EU blew off compliance collaboration

Good on apple for calling out their BS.

APPLE IS IN BUSINESS TO MSKE A PROFIT.

These cronies creat brand new rules to negate that. Apple didn’t do anything wrong. And that didn’t leave the EU with any way to steal money from them. So they created brand new rules that were directed at a specific target:Apple. That’s not law. That’s white collar extortion.

They say it’s up to a firm to comply with the law. The issue is that they did. But the law is written so vaguely as to purposely lease the targeted firm into a pothole. Apple HAS contacted thrm to navigate these beleaguered new laws and have t received any help. They just get answers like we will review at a later date. Or we will consult with your competitors to see what they think. Seriously. That’s what’s happened. It’s a constantly moving goalpost. And apple doesn’t get a review of their strategy to maintain earning s profit for the work they put in. They just mysteriously receive a heavy handed fine.

The new so-called law must be repealed. It’s quite shady in the way it’s written, who it targets, the injustice and unfairness of it, and the extortion aspect. There was no law violated even in these rules. It’s just a moving interpretation. Not a violation of the letter of the law at all. Not the proclaimed spitit either. So these folks just mske up a violation on the spot and apply fines.

It’s a really bad, very costly joke.

  • Apple seeks stay on allowing external links & purchases during injunction violation appeal...

Video game console manufacturers charge 30% commission for games sold in their 1st party digital stores, don't allow 3rd party digital stores and also collect 30% commission on physical units sold in 3rd party retail stores. So there is a precedent for collecting commission on sales made outside the 1st party digital store. Epic has tried to claim that it's okay for consoles to do that specifically because they don't make as much profit on hardware but that is not a legal argument. There aren't any laws that control commission levels that companies can charge based on profit levels elsewhere in their business.
yep. GameStop, Walmart, target, etc. all pay a portion of the game sales revenue to Nintendo, Sony, ms, etc. big precedent.
