    Fantastic idea… and then you can use all that money saved to continue paying for the subscription after the point you want to cancel it as there is no easy way to unsubscribe. Or their weak card processing system gets hacked and you lose all your financial details. 
    You and I agree, but many people (e.g., "s.metcalf") want to force business models on us that we don't want to deal with. If I wanted to deal with Google's model, I would buy phones that run Google software. I want the freedom to be able to choose Apple's model. If Apple is forced to follow Google's horrible model, there would be little reason for me to buy from Apple.
    This. Any company in a competitive field survives snd succeeds based on its differentiators. These unfair attacks are all aimed at destroying apples successful differentiators, artificially “taking them down a notch or ten.”

    I can see 2026. Apple was working on this in tandem with the headset. No way they stopped working on it. 

    Any rumors like “Apple drops development of smart shades,” etc. is more than likely part of the notorious Apple misinformation machine meant to throw the competition off track. 

    If anyone can make an amazing pair of XR glasses/sunglasses, it’s Apple.

    Glasses are the only way to go. 

    However, AR and non-AR doesn’t make sense. 

    It needs to be what it is and not convoluted the market. They can do that later on after the thing catches traction. 

    Kind of like the phone. It was first just the iPhone. It did everything sn iPhone can do. Later, it became the base model and the pro, etc. 

    The headset was never going to be a huge deal. Glasses have thr potential to be really big, especially if they look like a slick, high end pair of glasses/sunglasses - even if they partner with Oakley, etc.

    Because if they do that to Apple, then the precedent is set and the near identical models of Nintendo, PlayStation, Google play store, and Xbox etc. will be right behind like dominoes. 

    It’s just a very bad precedent set in the epuc games case in the usa and even worse by the incredibly corrupt dma in the eu. 

    The judge had no reason to hurt apple like that. Just because someone brings a frivolous lawsuit doesn’t mean that party should get a consolation prize when they lose. 

    And in the case of the targeted legalized extortion racket in the EU, the whole thing must be repealed.

    Doubtful that epic went in on this by themselves. It’s not eagle this happened after the hookup with tencent and there may be others behind the push. Epic is just the tip of the spear. 

    Sadly, I think this whole thing has publicly tainted a company that has been doing remarkable things on the 3d graphics front for a long time. But they had to get weird and deserve the loss of customer base and fandom. Unreal engine 5 is incredible and clearly the best real-time 3d engine on the market. But people don’t mind “settling” if it means they aren’t feeding a sludge monster bent on harming the good things we enjoy.
