  • Leaker wars escalate, Jon Prosser shows alleged iOS 19 redesign

    While iOS 7 was a major move forward in terms of modern ui and UX, this update just seems pointless. Look more like the headset ui? Why? No point. The headset ui just looks like the watch, but with frosted windowing. And it makes sense there. The phone doesn’t need windowing or greater elements. Whatever those icon shapes are-they are genuinely ugly. Looks like a beginner homemade android mod.

    I’m not opposed to change at all. Actually was kinda excited about it. But then I remembered this is a different design team. Reminiscent of whoever thought white bezels and plopping the power supply on the floor was a good idea in the new baby iMac.

    I understand Prosser is just showing renders trying to reproduce what his team saw. But st the same time, I hope it’s not anywhere near that style. Msjor backward step if that’s the case.

    But I don’t believe apple would head back into skeuomorphism (with the fake glass buttons) or degrade into amateur style design. I’m sure it will combine the best parts of each is and make it consistent across the board.

  • A flood of panic-buying has started in anticipation of major iPhone price increases

    So apple benefits from the panic buy now. Then when September hits and things have cooled a bit, apple benefits again from upgraders? Highly possible. Be interesting to revisit in 5 months.

  • iPhone blamed for including journalist in highly classified bombing plans

    It’s shocking that the government has been without a secure, closer messaging system.

    That’s wild.

    It is annoying how apps snd suggestiins get so jacked up sometimes.

    But this kind of thing highlights the absolute need for the government and military to have a closed, secure, encrypted messaging app.
    Reading the other posts:
    - the government has secure communication methods, but weren’t used;
    - they used personal phones to message each other that also is not allowed;

    So: blaming an iPhone is childish: “it wasn’t me”.

    People post lots of opinions and imagination. Government agencies have been using signal long before this. There isn’t a government-only conpareable app. Otherwise it would be used.

    This snafu (love that word) highlights the need for one. I can imagine Elon Musk already being tapped to come up with something.

  • Apple stock hammered for third consecutive market day, falls on news of more tariffs

    We’ll see if Apple goes forward with their announced $500B investment to build data centres. Big corps are shutting their investment wallets due to all the volatility caused by the orange orangutang.
    It would definitely help toward sourcing more from the USA and avoiding tariffs (and foreign government intrusion) altogether. Strengthening the homeland is only a good thing in the face of increasingly adversarial moves by abusive regimes.
