  • Third ex-Apple engineer charged over Apple Car technology theft

American companies need to place Chinese nationals under the most intense microscope when given jobs that grant access to U.S. tech.  If they have roots in China, they should have their passports immediately taken.  This is ridiculous.  Shame on the judge that allowed this miscreant to take the thief's word that he would not leave the country.  It's an embarrassment.

I hope Wang knows that he is now a wanted man the moment he leaves China.  As big a China is, it will feel like a small country for the rest of his life knowing he can't travel to any country that honors warrants and U.S. extradition laws.

    What a piece of garbage.
Good point, but difficult to do when you are an American company that has major investment in China and is endeavoring to fulfill a promised 275 billion dollar investment in the country itself.

    ah... priorities...

Hey American companies, how about you stop hiring Chinese employees?

Everything high tech that china has is all a bad copy of an American product.  Including and especially military technology which one day they soon they will use against the US!

Stop hiring chinese people that still have any ties to china.
American companies are unable to fill their tech job vacancies with American labor alone, so they are forced to import them from India and China. Even though it is risky and expensive they have little to no choice. If you wanna point the finger at someone, you can point it at the privileged US education system, entitled mindset, and the two bickering political parties that don't seem to know how to solve for anything.
That's not accurate. It's a money thing.  It's cheaper to pay non-USA wages. there are plenty of qualified Americans who would go for these jobs - that don't get the opportunity.

  • NBCUniversal ad exec Linda Yaccarino will be the new Twitter CEO

This. Article could really do without that last line.

It’s not like a hostile press didn’t earn it.

The real story here is that Twitter is on the up and up and is looking forward to a bright future. With smart, successful people at the helm.

Can’t wait to see it become “X.” Will dominate.

  • Full-featured Final Cut Pro & Logic Pro coming to iPad in May

Subscription from Apple for an app?
No thanks. F*cking subscriptions everywhere for an app I sometimes use everyday, sometimes not for months.

If this happens with FCPX for macOS as well I’m off to Resolve. A shame because FCP is an excellent NLE (just very behind competitors in features)

This is the only way it could be done on iOS. If it was priced at $299 up-front like on the Mac App Store, almost nobody would buy it. Loads of people are willing to pay $4.99/month on mobile apps.

Also, part of the reason paid up-front software falls behind is because it eventually runs out of buyers. No recurring revenue means investing in it becomes an ever-growing loss.

FCP X would be fine as a $5/month subscription on Mac too or free with in-app purchase for higher-end features.
Subscription sucks. I was excited until I saw that.
You'd think Apple could charge less for those who already have it on Mac.

A one-time fee for pro apps is fine - even on mobile. It's not like the iPad is some measley mobile afterthought. People paying for iPad pro are. already willing to spend to get the good stuff.

If the full the range of Mac computers were for sale to the public, Apple probably would’ve been up in Mac Computer sales, when compared to last year’s quarter at the same time.
What do you mean by the full range? 🤔
Full range a larger screen iMac 27 inches or higher. It’s been over a decade, some form of a tower desktop, computer, half size or full size, and where is the rack mountable Mac, is Apple going to wait for those three guys who used to work at Apple, who now work for Qualcomm to introduce a Arm server? All these things Apple will do in the future, it’s just a question of how long Tim Cook is willing to look at fewer Mac’s sold per quarter, and leave billions sitting on the table.
Oh an armchair CEO who thinks they can run Apple better than Apple...love these guys!
    He’s right though.

The full lineup isn’t available. And the big iMac is a very big deal.
