  • Microsoft says that if Apple isn't stopped now, its antitrust behavior will just get worse...

Says the company trying to monopolize AAA gaming by literally buying the competition.

MS does the same thing Apple does. They just aren’t successful.

This is petty jealousy snd and anticompetitive behavior from Microsoft.
I read that MS will be #3 after the acquisition, so I don't think they are trying to monopolize AAA gaming.

IMO, a $2.35T company is very, very successful.

I don't see them as jealous.  They are just getting better to improve and expand GamePass market share.  Even Apple is copying GamePass with Apple Arcade.
No one said MS was #1. They aren’t that successful. But they are clearly trying to monopolize “aaa gaming” by buying the major aaa game publishers and then shutting everyone else out of the games.

Apple Arcade existed before game pass. So it’s Ms doing the copying.

2.3 tril is great and all, but it isn’t 3 tril.

And MS just dumped 70 billion on one of its monopolistic game publisher purchases. So thst takes a good chunk out.

Apple Ames the best hardware and software on the market. They also offer amazing services which users trust.

Of course competitors like ms want to hurt Apple any way they can. So they pull this stuff. It’s their only recourse.

They were unable to succeed at phones, even after purchasing Nokia - the entire company. Their product was so lame that no one bought from their store either.

Meanwhile Apple is dominating in the free market with iPhone snd people love the App Store so much that it profits at much greater rates than all rivals. That’s honest hard work translating into success. Where Google and ms take the easy road and sell you out to advertisers, Apple does the hard work snd is now being rewarded. It’s s good thing not s bad one.

And that hard work deserves to get paid. You build s platform that people want and others want to profit from your labor. That’s fine, but you should get s fair cut. That’s what is at stake. Freeloaders want to have apple work for free. Ridiculous. They don’t. If they want thst, then they should sell their wares for free - since they won’t need to pay Apple at that point.

In the physical world, you pay a retailer like Walmart for putting your product on their popular shelves. So it is in the App Store world. Data centers cost money. App vetting costs money. Manpower costs money, marketing costs money. It’s all fair and good for a company to not just recoup their investment, but make s profit (the definition of business) in order to not only profit, but fuel growth and future innovation.

Microsoft is being so anti business and anti fair when it comes to Apple thst they deserve s boycott.

No one needs Microsoft products to work anymore. And they know it. That’s why they want to play the victim of nonexistent crime in order to have someone else stop Apple from being a brilliantly successful company.

Either go full mini LED and do it right or don't bother. We don't want light artifacts in dark areas.

iMac Pro is going to sell.  There is pent up demand.

But dang. It needs to simple come out.

I imagine new SoC architecture is the reason for delay more than anything. It needs to puch hard.

Sure, there are other issues in the supply chain, but all of that is amortized across the lineup: aluminum, glass, silicon, screen materials, etc.

Performance is what will drive this.

  • New Mac mini with M2 & M2 Pro - all the rumors so far

Sounds like some backward steps in the design.

No internal power supply - horrible decision.
Apple corrected this long ago and now they are going back in time to an inferior and much messier solution.

plexiglass like top - sound like the original iMac. So not a new design.

Just look at what it used. to look like:

    NASTY.

"Oh, but the ethernet goes on the power supply now!"
Who gives a rip. If the new team wanted to make it great, they could still route ethernet through the cable via a redesigned plug - with the power supply still inside the computer where it belongs.

Just come out with the pro grade iMac already. Sheesh.

iPhone and iPhone pro coming out at the same time doesn’t hurt anything. Past years have shown that even SE models cause an up sell to the pro machine.

Nothing wrong with that  a sale is a sale and the pro machines have more profit margin.

The thought behind waiting only makes sense for appearing to not stagnate. We already know Apple doesn’t stagnate. They develop until it’s ready d add ndi then launch. But much of this seems a bit forced.

Production issues? For what? The screen? Apple doesn’t manufacture that. Shouldn’t be an issue unless it’s 5.5-6k and the data connections require further engineering.

    The SoC? Done.

The enclosure? Literally C&C a piece of aluminum Snd anodize it.

Supply chain issues I can understand. Production?

If true, hopefully it means that the pro machine is more than just a bigger iMac with a spec bump.

    Otherwise it doesn’t make sense.
Your analysis of the production issues lacks some reality. because of aluminum shortages due to things like China cutting back production, the sky high price of recycled aluminum, global transportation problems, covid-19 issues (you may have heard of that) involving subcontractors, etc. it's not as simple as just CNC a block of aluminum. Also, Apple has little control of the supply and production issues the subs are having.

Supply chain issues ARE production issues.
Production is the stage of putting it together. Supply chain is the flow of components - something that is secured prior to production. So while supply chain can affect production, it is not a production issue such as bad figment, poorly engineered items, anodization that scratches off easily, or parts that won’t work together  (I.e.The iPhone 5 had production issues. Not supply chain issues.)

The reality is these are nuanced terms that spark specific ideas in people who know the difference

Literally everyone knows that there are supply chain issues. But thanks for playing.

And China isn’t the only place to get aluminum. Apple can source from India who’d be eager to compete -maybe they already do… or Canada - Who can supply it yesterday.
