  • Trump Mobile's made-in-US iPhone 17 competitor is really made in China

Business-wise, makes sense for the family organization to do this. Capitalize on popularity and make some money.
No, it doesn’t make sense, because that’s unethical and wrong. It’s why we ask presidents to divest prior to coming into office. It only makes sense if one is void of ethics and doesn’t mind doing wrong.
Is the president involved? I thought his family took it over in 2017. Or is the family not allowed to make a marketing connection to the fact that their father was and is the President? Donald Trump Jr. is not Donald Trump Sr.

I guess they were thinking it's nice that we can try to so stuff here, wo why not? It's to likely to succeed, but you can try. The market will decide if it lives or dies.

Apparently Liberty Mobile is the company behind the whole thing. And uses the same "graphic designers" as the licensed name service. :(

Interesting. Reporting indicates it's not actually being done by the Trump organization, but rather they are licensing the name to another MVNO organization. So The Trump organization is not that involved other than licensing the name? We will see what information comes out. Not a fan of this move at all. Can't really trust a trhid party with the kinds of claims being made. Recipe for PR disaster. Nobody wants politicians THIS involved in their daily life, even if it's in name only. Doesn't matter what side of the aisle you're on. And that gold color... not good.

on the plus side (I guess), customer service is in the USA.
Eric Trump made the rounds this morning celebrating this, so I don't think "just licensing" is the escape that the Trump Organization is looking for.
Saw that. Not so great. Looks like a startup product and service launch. Not like what it actually is. Not the end of the world world, but certainly not the best look either. I think they are focusing on the US based nature of most if not all of the service (remains to be seen how far that actually goes). I don't think they are looking for an escape - since they are just pushing the thing now, but not very upfront about the underlying details of the business.

Looks like their plans work with existing phones also, whether iPhone or Android. Can see some older folks going for this, but not too much of anyone else, especially considering the actual licensing nature of this will make headlines everywhere and people won't be so thrilled.

Telecommunication is a money-maker though, so wouldn't be surprised to see many more getting involved in this kind of thing - it's something Apple was rumored to do in the early days of iPhone.

Also, they are indeed claiming that the phone will be manufactured int he USA. We will see what that actually means.

The graphics on the phone are so old looking. Like an elementary school art project. Perhaps they are aiming for an elderly audience (especially with the built in Telehealth features) of die hard supporters rather than mass market - even though the website has youngish/middle aged people represented. Even the marketing graphics are pretty bad. They look like a blog thumbnail rather than anything professional (harsh drop shadows, inconsistencies, etc).
