Mike Wuerthele said:9secondkox2 said:The art of the deal in action. It makes sense to puvot when things are going your way. Rather than fault-finding, it would seem that an entire government able to turn in a dime is quite agile. That’s where the art of the deal reference comes in.I get that the ai staff and many on this forum are anti-trump. But I think it’s worthwhile to acknowledge the good that can result from someone finally addressing the unfair trade balance personally, I think that’s just linked to a sense of entitlement by foreign nations who are recently going beyond trade imbalances and inserting themselves in the boardrooms of American tech companies, deciding business models, pricing structures, and forcing them (namely apple) to prop up competitors on the USA corps dime. Gotta start somewhere and it’s got to be impactful. -

Trump's 104% tariff against imports from China goes live
It may be tough for a bit, but it’s necessary. We shouldn’t have allowed everyone to-especially China - to tariff us like they have without responding in kind.China has been stealing our IP, making our stuff, and forcing our companies to hand over their sensitive data and control to the ccp. We don’t do that maybe we should do that for every country that pulls that on ur companies. The fact that China has so much control over apples data is unbelievable and reaches beyond China to everyone who communicates with Chinese citizens. With China only getting more aggressive and other countries and the EU following suit, it’s time to nip this before it gets even worse. It’s already been too long.Maybe some of you aren’t willing to hold off on buying some things for a bit. But I can easily wait a bit in order to get a far better situation moving forward. It pretty much depends on us. What will we do. Will we buy anyway at exorbitant prices, or will we curb our habit long enough to make a difference.I’ve been waiting forever to upgrade. Just bought an m4 air to tide me over. I can wait a little longer.Ultimately I think cook knows exactly what this is about and likely supports it in spite of the short term hit. It’s really the only way to get things back to a fair place where it should be. -
