Apple Silicon iMac & MacBook Pro expected in 2021, 32-core Mac Pro in 2022
rob53 said:Why stop at 32 cores.
I don't see even 32 happening for anything but the Mac Pro. I saw forum comments recently that games don't and can't use more than six cores. How much RAM (and heat) would you need to feed 32 cores?

iPhone 12 Pro models have 6GB of RAM, iPhone 12 & iPhone 12 mini sport 4GB

Apple uses a technique called Automated Reference Counting for program memory when running an app, as opposed to 'trash collection' like in a Java machine. Proponents argue that this means that Apple devices need only 1/3 the memory of conventional devices. This allows them to avoid some cost and power consumption.

I don't even see the purpose of these reports. Who do they serve? Certainly not the consumer.
