  • Portless 'iPhone 13' could restore iOS without needing a cable

I hope that solution also includes a provision for hard wired connected car players.

So everyone is copying Apple here too. After "Hey Siri", we had "Hey Google" (from "Ok Google"), "Hey Cortona", and now "Hey Facebook" (sounds terrible!).
Actually, “OK Google” (May, 2013) came before “ Hey Siri” (Sept, 2014). Then “Hey Cortana” (Oct, 2014), followed by “Alexa” (Nov, 2014).

But I agree that “Hey FB” sounds ridiculous. Thank God I’ll never utter that phrase. Ever.
DK already noted "Ok Google", and was noting the switch-over to "Hey [dingus]" after "Hey Siri". Not that it matters much, but I think that's what he was saying.
My new AI assistant is hereby names “Dingus” :-)

  • Hacker allegedly posed as Apple Support to scam user out of $1,500

They intercepted the phone call : Nope, probably misdialed the number
They had the user download an app from the App Store that gives this kind of control over the iPhone: which app would that be?
They were able to locate which bank and log in without help: unlikely although opening the bank app could trigger a faceId login
The remote control app was able to launch another app without the users input: current iOS requires this action to be manually approved

There’s a lot of pieces of this story that don’t add up and without more detail I’m calling BS.

  • Apple 'M1X' chip specification prediction appears on benchmark site

Intel’s days are numbered. Also companies like Dell, which I give 3 years before declaring bankruptcy (personal opinion here). Maybe Microsoft with it’s combined software and hardware but they’d have to scrap the crap they have and start writing decent software which is a stretch and then try to make leaps and bounds progress to catch up to Apple hardware/software wise.

  • Advertisers weigh moving to Android as iOS 14 privacy features loom

Obviously advertisers will turn to whatever platform will gain them income. What I wonder is if the current Android platform will be able to supply this influx of advertisers with what they need or will Android need to become even more intrusive than it is now. I picture lots of pop up ads on every Android screen and in every Android app or an ever increasing mining of our personal information as these advertisers fight your your attention creating a hellscape of distraction, unproductively and privacy violations.
