  • First ARM Mac said to arrive in 2021 with custom Apple chip

They should release this under the iBook line. A modern reimagining of an Apple classic.

  • Apple debuts 2019 iPad Air with A12 Bionic chip and enhanced 10.5-inch display

What’s funny about this post is that I didn’t even know that AAPL got rid of the headphone jack in 2018 iPad Pros. Where was all the condemnation in the press about this?  Oh wait - headphones in 2019 are mostly wireless now. Goes to show AAPL was right to kill off the headphone jack starting with the iPhone.
I'd still prefer to have the headphone jack. I'm not going to whine about it's removal or make a huge deal about it. I just think it's an unfortunate decision that probably makes sense for 85-90% of their users. Unfortunately, I'm in that minority who still use the jack for some applications. I periodically use my iPad for audio playback through a variety of PA systems. The headphone jack is by far the easiest way to do that. I use my iPhone in this way, too, but now I have to carry a dongle since upgrading to the X. The X is a great phone IMHO other than the lack of a headphone jack. FWIW, I also have AirPods that I use with my macOS and iOS devices, and I think they're fantastic. But sometimes, I just need the old-fashioned standard connection.

  • Mac mini, iMac, iMac Pro: How to choose the best desktop Mac for your needs and budget

Are the iMacs still using laptop processors and GPUs, or have they upgraded them to desktop components? It's my understanding that the processors used in the Mac Mini are desktop variants. IMHO they should take the Mac Pro 2013 case and update/cross-grade it with a desktop class Intel i7/i9 processor (8+ cores), single desktop class Vega 64 GPU, desktop class RAM (min. 16GB), NVMe storage (min. 512GB), 2 bus/4 port Thunderbolt expansion, 4-6 USB 3 ports, headphone port. All major components should be upgradeable. There should be more than enough cooling to prevent thermal throttling on any of the components, and it would be very quiet. Call it simply the 'Mac', no modifiers or adjectives. Make it a good mid-range price point (~$2k), and it should be a solid hit. That's plenty of power for consumers who push the edge and pros who don't need Xeons and 128GB RAM. It could even be a decent gaming/VR rig. My $0.02, as ever.

  • Apple debuts 2019 iPad Air with A12 Bionic chip and enhanced 10.5-inch display

They should rebrand this as the iPad Plus. The 'Air' branding doesn't really make sense any more IMHO. 'Plus' would make it easier to see the good, better, best product lineup Apple has created. (iPad, iPad Air, iPad Pro)

  • Pirated 4K 'Aquaman' rip suggests iTunes 4K movie DRM has been broken

Apple may be a stickler for security, but they really haven't been fans of DRM. Steve Jobs famously and routinely lamented the movie studios and music labels forcing Apple to implement it on iTunes. It was they who insisted on locking up content delivery in order to charge more. He argued (successfully, in the case of music) that charging a reasonable fee per title was a much better strategy to minimizing piracy. He was right.
