Two major factors that helped Apple survive — 1. the success of the iPod/iTunes and 2. Microsoft’s infusion of cash and commitment to continue to make Microsoft Office for the Mac.

Hopefully this puts a fire under Apple - but Im not going to hold my breath. Apple Maps needs a better feedback system for corrections to their data, enhanced business info, gas pricing, and a Waze-like crowd sourcing for hazards/traffic/police sightings. Maybe 5 years from now we'll see those features added?

Does anyone watch these award shows anyway? It’s usually a bunch of fake & shallow hypocritical actors kissing each other’s behinds. To have the host insult them is ironic. And to have him make comments about Apple that aren’t accurate is harmful and slanderous. Hey, you could argue EVERY product made in China is made in a sweatshop - none of those workers are paid fair wages, in which case all companies that manufacture in China are guilty. At least Apple attempts to bring better working conditions and more environmentally friendly processes - I would say they are way ahead of Microsoft, Dell, and all the other tech/consumer products companies in their efforts.

I disagree about your ‘quite happy’ comment .... I work with several Chinese employees that were born and raised in China, initially coming over to the US as students, and now work in the US and call it home. They have never lived any other way, but as they learn the freedoms that citizens of other countries have they realize they were being programmed, used, even oppressed by the government. The conversations I have with them are eye opening, surprising and often even sad. Many truly fear that the government will harm them and their family if they speak up.  

I would have imagined that by now an Apple sanctioned full featured custom face builder would be available - choose the colors, background, size and styles of fonts and hands, then add various complications. The more I thought about it I realized that it may not exist because people could duplicate copyright protected watch faces such as a Rolex and that  Apple could be held liable for infringement.
