  • Editorial: The future of Apple's Macintosh

    1.  Why, when one clicks on the comments link, does the story reappear?  And, at its start?  This, requiring one to scroll down a very long page?!

    2.  Your first heading is grammatically wrong.

"Where's the updates to existing Macs?"

You meant, of course, "Where *are* the updates to existing Macs?!   :)

    Still a a good question....

  • How to: change the email address linked to your Apple ID account

Several months ago, I changed my Apple ID from a dummy, made up email account to a regular one.  Wish I had not.  Had no problems whatsoever, however, with previous app purchases, including, AFAIK, in-app ones!  I'd like to switch the email address again.

Is there a way of finding out which in-app purchases one has?!

The warnings in the video could have been much clearer!

"You may have the risk of removing in-app, unlock style purchases" ??  What is an in-app, "unlock style" purchase?!  What is an "unlock style" as opposed to just an in-app purchase or a unlock one?!    Is it a "risk"?  Or, is it as posters are saying, a definite thing?!

    Then, the speaker said:

"consumables don't seem to.affected, but one time use charges seem to be removed from your account"

"consumables"?!  What are we doing, buying toner for our printers?!  :-)

"one time use charges" is also oddly phrased.  If it's only one time, who cares if I get it back or not?!  Clearly, the speaker needed to state this differently!

What would help is a print story to accompany this-- with the warnings spelled out clearly, unambiguously!

  • New version of Carbon Copy Cloner fully Sierra compatible, backs up your Mac like it always has

Sorry to be a pedant, but the headline likely contains a common English error that changes its meaning.

"Carbon Copy Cloner... backs up your Mac like it always has"

    Well, that raises an issue...

    "like" = similar to

So, how does the new version differ?!  :-)

Most likely, the headline should have been:

"Carbon Copy Cloner... backs up your Mac as it always has"

    Here's a more common example.

You:  "What flavor ice cream should we buy for her birthday party?!"

Significant other:     "Well, she enjoys favors LIKE mint chocolate chip..."  (giving you carte blanche  to find flavors similar to it) vs.

Significant other:     "Well, she enjoys flavors SUCH AS mint chocolate chip" (specifying what she likes)

  • Samsung stops shipments of 'exploding' Galaxy Note 7 phones

Ah, Samsung! They've been so intent on copying other companies' products, they didn't know when to stop! Even down to exploding batteries! Or, wait! Is that one of Samsung's special new features-- like that hand wave while you were eating Sloppy Joes?! It's designed to show that users can replace their own batteries... Or, can they?! OK! I should have just left my comment at one word --------> SCHADENFREUDE! <--------- ------------------------------------ P.S. It is a serious matter, in fact, especially for those affected, users and the company.
