  • 'Sign in with Apple' about convenience of social media sign-on 'without the tracking part'...

password manager, throwaway email address and fake persona, done. As for “social” media, its just a cest pit and echo chamber for holier than thou narcassists, it adds nothing of value to your live, burns precious time and in the worst case will be used against you to get you fired or not hired by some asshat who miss interprets something you posted 6 years ago. No, you are better of not participating in that shit fest of an idea. social media is for idiots and narcassists that make bank of the idiots.

  • Apple confirms T2 coprocessor blocks some third-party Mac repairs

in which kind of fantasy land do macs hold their value? I got a 2007,2011 and 2013 mac book pro sitting here cause no one wants. You welcome to buy them for 10k (aud) if you think they have held their value.

  • Apple IDs locked for unknown reasons for a number of iPhone users

    2 pieces of advice .
1.Use iCloud Keychain to make passwords. Do not try to remember them.
    2. Use 2Factor Authentication.
    3. Make sure you have all your data backed up localy. The “cloud” is just for convinient sharing of data regardless what the big players say.

    Not surprised.
Know what would have had demand through the roof? ; A 4.5" screen inside a case the size of an iPhone 5.
absolutely this, and let me use my wired headphones.  iPhone 5SE is the first apple device I actually paid for a replacement battery instead of replacing the device with new model, as none of the stuff fits my needs. I’m not alone.

  • Apple unveils all new 13-inch MacBook Air with Retina display, Thunderbolt 3 and more

My current 2014 MBA has 256GB storage and only 20GB left. 125GB is just too small. You have to add about $300 for 256GB and another $200 for 512. Any other solutions?
Do what I did, vote with your wallet and get a PC. I was way deep in the apple eco system especially with software. OS-X is still the best operating system but I found windows 10 has come a long way and is mostly good enough. For all my UNIX needs I either run a VM or use the inbuilt Ubuntu subsystem build into windows 10. Moving my lightroom collection over was seemless and Apple provides iCloud and ITunes for windows. With those major points sorted I slowly transitioned my other devices away from apple. Still like my iPad Pro but with the new released line up that is the next piece of Apple Kit scheduled to be replaced by a Microsoft Surface Pro. Only thing I dig out my Mac Book Pro for is "Final Cut Pro" as I shelled out fair bit for the license and I love that tool. Although I am sure moving to premiere will only take a couple of weeks effort.

It takes a bit of effort to get out of the eco system, but the alternatives are way better than they were 10 years ago.

I mainly just come to appleinsider out of habbit as I'm just used to visit the site couple of times a day to see what apple stuff I could order, now I am here to watch my ex favourite tech company systematically rape its customers with junk.
Yes I am very bitter about what apple has become.
