  • Disgruntled MacBook Pro users petition Apple to recall defective keyboards

I have a 2016 MacBook Pro 15, all maxed out specs. Since early 2017 I have had the top case replaced 3 (!) times. Twice for the reason of faulty speaker, and in one case the keyboard got faulty on the already replaced top case. I still have my 2010 MacBook Pro (ssd, ram upgraded), which works just fine and served well as a temporary replacement while the 2016 MacBook was being repaired. This whole experience told me a lot about modern Apple’s quality and their design. Seriously considering hackintosh alternatives.
The Apple ecosystem is still strong and sticky, but I remember back in the days I was happy to be locked in - now I hate it. I feel they just suck money from me without giving any value back.

  • New MacBook Pro drops optical audio out through headphone jack

What about the downgraded wi-fi speed? Killing noiseless clicking for the force touchpad? To me these are much more important omissions. I don't even mention the 15w processor vs 28w previously, and a much higher price tag.

  • Apple considering Russian repair center in wake of local iPhone lawsuit - report

He’d rather get the broken one repaired than take a brand new device?
There is an important inaccuracy in the article. The exchange costs $450 not the repair. The 3rd party services cannot repair iPhones because Apple doesn't supply spareparts. So, if your screen or anything else got broken (your fault) you have no option but to get a replacement for $450.
