  • Survey finds 70 percent of iPhone loyal and won't switch, 40 percent want 'iPhone 8'

I think the price point discussion is moot sometimes -- I'd hazard a guess that a lot of people do the monthly plans with their carrier or thru Apple's iPhone upgrade program. For me, saying the phone is one price vs another does not really make a difference (and most of these articles are focusing only on the 'buy-it-outright' price) since I will be looking at what the monthly payments to either AT&T or Apple would be. I have a 256GB iPhone 7 and for me, that works out to $40.75/month thru Apple. I'm just curious to see what the plans for all the new phones will be.

  • 'Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak:' A poor man's guide to the first iPhone

Great story, Neil. Reading this, it could have been me as well. I didn't get the iPhone until January 2008 when Apple debuted the new 16GB model, but I was also on T-Mobile. I did the whole jailbreaking and unlocking thing, sometimes several times a month. I used Cydia to change everything about the phone that Apple didn't want you to change or that Apple did not include. Additionally, I had a 160GB iPod Classic - that click-wheel scrolling thru Cover Flow was my favorite thing. I recall showing it to my mom that summer, making a test call, and telling her to simply touch the glass to answer it; she pressed and then pressed harder, lol. Explaining that a single touch was needed once again, she was just amazed. Ten years later, she has a 7 Plus, and I have my 7, having had every iPhone each prior year as well. I was hooked. Thank you, Apple.

  • iOS 11 for iPhone: See some of Apple's best new features in action

Messages app*, not the Messenger app.
The App Store is getting a redesign, not the Apple Store.

  • Apple's iPad to get bigger dock, Files app, drag-and-drop & easier multitasking in iOS 11 ...

I found this a dramatic closing of the gap between iOS and macOS... at least in terms of the UI.  This will increase people's willingness to view iPad Pro as a laptop alternative for a wide variety of tasks.
Honestly, no it won't. Unless you are talking about MacBook Air owners switching to iPads maybe. But no Windows user is going to make an iPad their primary professional/educational computing device. Especially since an iPad Pro costs as much as a Windows laptop anyway, and doesn't even offer a physical keyboard or ports for external monitors and added storage.
Well I disagree. I barely use my HP laptop anymore and I have been wanting to get a MacBook Pro. After seeing the updates and the appearance of making iPad Pro look more MacBook Pro like, I'm sold.  Everything that I currently do on my Windows laptop I can do on an iPad Pro, especially with Pages and Numbers. You should know this is going to vary per user...

I also think this is amazing...for me, anyway, who has been teetering on the thought of buying my first MBP. However, with iOS 11's new iPad updates, I am so impressed that I have put iPad Pro ahead of the full MacBook experience. I found today very innovative in this respect.
