I hope it does, you can all live a few months longer without the newest iPhone, tens of thousands won't live to see that iPhone get a grip.
Annual global deaths from the seasonal flu: between 291,000 and 646,000

Annual global deaths from traffic accidents: about 1.25 million

So... clearly China should ban cars and keep everyone locked in their houses until the flu goes away.

It’s not that simple, this new virus has a 3% fatality rate in a controlled environment.  If it spreads outside of China that’s going to climb.  If it becomes like the flu virus (mutating/seasonal) who knows how many it kills.

At the end of this year, the global population will be about 8 billion.  3% of 8 billion is 240 million

This is why you see barely anyone the streets in China.  Every time one of these virus’s appear they have the potential to be devastating.

The odds are good something like that won’t happen.  But even a .01% chance is no joke.

  • Mac malware outpaced Windows PCs threats for first time in 2019, report says

I wonder what infection rate would be if all Mac software had to be installed through the App Store...
That's precisely why the default is/should be ONLY Mac App Store and Notarized Apps can be installed. If you bypass it, you're accepting responsibilty for the consequences.

I've never caugh a virus/malware on any of my machines, neither macOS nor Windows because I'm paranoid as can be and I never got into the pirated software scene. Other than a modicum of open-source software that I've built from source, everything on my machines is from the App Store, Adobe or SetApp.
Windows would like you to do the same thing, install apps only from the official Microsoft Store. In fact it will insistently warn you that the program you are installing may be unsafe when it was securely downloaded directly from a trusted software provider, advising you should not proceed and visit Microsoft instead.  If they could they'd force everyone to deal only with Apple and Microsoft and use only what they provided. Fortunately for us they can't without straying across antitrust lines.
The difference is Microsoft’s Store is garbage.

  • BlueMail restored to Apple's Mac App Store after dispute [u]

I wonder why AI is using a picture of Blue Mail with a 2 star rating when the App Store has it at 4.5...

  • Vast majority of all iPads, iPhones in service use iOS 13

iPads don’t get the same kind of use as a phone.

iPads that are PC replacements are going to get updated a lot more than ones for a specific task.  If an iPad is only used a few times a week, there’s not going to be a lot of motivation (awareness of security risk) to upgrade.

If it’s used for games do you really care (about upgrades) as long as the games still work?

We’ve also been trained by Microsoft to equate updates with decreased performance...

  • Apple spent $7.4M on lobbying efforts in 2019, well below outlays from Amazon and Facebook...

The money (billions) spent on elections is where politician are really bought and sold.  Public companies are kind of hobbled, whereas personal fortunes can be funneled though SuperPACs and nonprofits... you don’t even need to be a US citizen.
