  • M5 MacBook Pro now expected in the first half of 2026

My 16-inch MacBook Pro M1 Max (maxed out except for a 4TB drive, instead of an 8TB drive) feels as fast and perfect as it did on day one. I am perfectly happy to wait for a major physical design change. Will a "new case" and an OLED screen M6 make me buy a new one? Dunno. Have you seen my Liquid Retina XDR display? It's pretty sweet. I used to get a new MBP every three-ish years. This fall starts the fifth year. Apple Silicon is one of the best Apple innovations since the Mac itself.

  • Apple plans low-cost MacBook based on iPhone processor

Totally possible. My iPad mini has an A17 Pro and is peppy as heck. I have my M series MacBook Pro for the heavy lifting.

  • Is the Apple One subscription worth it in 2025?

We have Premier. The first three services are necessities for us. Our usage is:
iCloud+ 2TB: Constantly (We're at 1.7TB at the moment, after the ~OS26 transition, I'm betting we might need to bump up to 4TB)
    Apple Music: Hours every day
    Apple TV+: Almost every day
Apple News+: Semi-daily, but not a lot (the recipe catalog has me using it more these days)*
Apple Fitness+: A couple of times a week at most
    Apple Arcade: Now and then

We're a small family, but are power users (nerds). Whenever they raise their rates, which has been often, I crunch the numbers. At a minimum we would need Family plus iCloud+ 2TB = $36 a month. So for two more bucks, we get the three services we could probably live without, but like I said, it's only two bucks.

*Now that we live in the worst timeline ever, I have blocked all mainstream news in the app for myself. It's all niche interests, food, Apple, cars, technology, HiFi, vinyl, music, film, TV etc...

  • Trump Mobile's made-in-US iPhone 17 competitor is really made in China

"Well, he's doing a lot of bad things, but at least he's not selling Chinese spyware laced cheap smartphones to Americans."

  • If you were underwhelmed by WWDC 2025, you're not alone

The Keynote was shockingly on point, gave us a Lot of new great features and design, and was 100% welcome by me (a non-developer).

I didn't know what to expect, but I was very, very happy during and afterwards.
