Hands on: Google Maps in CarPlay fights Apple Maps for your dashboard
Tried it out yesterday. Visually it's not as easy to see detail/routes on the screen as Apple Maps.
Also, I couldn't find a way to show the overview of the route. Did I miss it, or is it not a thing in Google Maps?
An aside. So many apps are broken in CarPlay with iOS 12 now. Including the stock Apple Podcasts app.
SirusXM's app, which was marginal to use before, is completely broken.
Overcast just had a big update, with zero attention to the CarPlay interface, which is useless, and remains useless. -
Drivers more satisfied with Apple CarPlay than Android Auto, says J.D. Power
My iPhone X keeps disconnecting from my 2017 Chevy premium head unit CarPlay. Every time I get in my car I have to force restart the iPhone to keep it from disconnecting. Using an Apple lightning cable, before you ask. Dealership can't resolve it. There is no way to even get a comment from Apple. Can't drive my car up to the genius bar.
Might have to do with the fact that the unit in the car is made by Bose, which is "high-end" for suckers. -
Everything new in tvOS 12: Over 20 new features for Apple TV

I love the remote. Its very simple and basic, yet performs 99% of what you need it to do. The only thing I can think of that it is missing is a dedicated power button, which it doesn't need if you set up HDMI through ARC.

I have zero problems with the remote. People just need to use it a few times and it will become second nature. -
Apple, Oprah Winfrey sign multi-year deal for TV programming
I remember when a friend of mine almost got divorced because of her show. He would get home after work and his wife would tell him all the things he was doing wrong because he heard it on "Oprah." This was in the early years of her show when it had more of a near-Jerry Springer type format. Years later, she softened up the format and started attracting stars.
She's not a bad person, but she sure started as one. Not interested in her programing.
