I've said it before and I'll say it again - there is no justifiable reason Apple can give for charging $600 on a 32gb memory upgrade and nearly $1000 for a 64gb upgrade. That's just out of control. The Mac Mini $1000 base but goes up to $1600 for maxed out memory...a 60% increase in cost when for it could be done under for under $200 by a 3rd party.
So now it’s not about repairs, it’s about upgrades. Slippery slope....

Are cellphone batteries dangerous? Sure, at some level, but they aren't grenades -- and are certainly safe enough for millions of us to carry in our pockets without thinking twice about it.”

Is an iPhone catching fire in your pocket really the worst case scenario you can imagine? Really? How about a device stored in a jet-liner’s cargo area that goes off halfway across an ocean?

Sorry to say it, but this article sometimes sounds like it was written from the POV of one of those two sides the authors talk about.

    IMHO.
Slippery slope? How do you figure? The same rules apply once the device is home whether you are upgrading or repairing - under no circumstances does Apple want you opening a device. The idea that they want to use the example of one idiot biting down on a battery as the prime example for why you shouldn't allow anyone outside of Apple (and its absurd pricing) is insane.

  • Hands on: JBL's fully-wireless Powerbeats Pro rival, the Endurance Peak

to be fair, wouldn't the Powerbeats Pro be a rival to JBL's? JBL is first to market so could you really rival something that has yet been released?

  • Apple got tablets right, and created a whole new market with the iPad 12 years ago today

no argument here, nothing comes close to the iPad in the tablet market. I could flip back and forth between Apple and Samsung for a phone but nothing beats an iPad. Admittedly, I didn't warm up to the new Pro right away (I've been rocking the first Pro since the day it came out) but, the new one is pretty damn nice - I don't think I've picked up my Mac book since I upgraded my iPad.
