Thought I'd be buying an iPhone 8 but am drawn to the technologies in iPhone X. Since I've held onto my iPhone 5 this long, what's another year for facial recognition at a lower price? I have saved money with a phone that continues to work and will adopt the strategy of making a big technological leap every 4-5 years instead of every other year. 

Does Duan drive a luxury car that he complains can't compete with cheap Japanese subcompacts? Seriously, a company can stake its place in whatever segment of the market it chooses, and Apple has done pretty well so far from a profit standpoint.

On the privacy front, keep in mind that patient health information is protected by law, so at least some people could view access to HealthKit-type information to be protected in some way as well. Certainly, medical research based on that data is ethically and legally required to be reviewed for patient safety and consent.
