  • Amazon could open over 2,000 grocery stores in massive retail push

    This is good for competition.

Hope other stores realize that waiting in line is stupid and the worst part about grocery shopping
It is actually quite the opposite, smaller chains will not be able to invest this heavily into these technologies short term and only larger companies will survive. This will drive down prices in the short term but can possibly have adverse effects in the future.

  • Samsung said to be following iPhone 7 by courageously omitting headphone jack in 'Galaxy S8'

So how long will it be before fAndroids start claiming iPhone didn't phase the 3.5 out first?
It didn't though, there were other model phones made by other manufacturers that used other types of connectors to provide audio.
Apple is the first manufacturer who seems intent on pushing that decision throughout their entire product line however. The fact that Apple got a huge wave of frowns and outcries by users is going to make those very same users look like hypocrites though when they say nothing about it when Samsung does the same.

  • Oppenheimer: Apple 'lacks the courage to lead the next generation of innovation'

For the love of god can someone PLEASE tell my what is supposed to be wrong with Siri VS the competition? I have tried all of the solutions and I hardly notice any difference. Sure Google can tell me how long it will take me to go somewhere at any given point in my timetable because it KNOWS every minute detail about me but speech wise it does pretty much the same as Siri.

    - Never had issues with making reminders, timers, appointments, calls, messages.
    - Never had issues with asking for directions, the weather, general trivia.
    - Never had issues with controlling media on iOS in general.

I always hear an abundant amount of complaints how Siri supposedly is a terrible product when compared to the competition but never hear justifications on how or why.
Does Siri really need more of your personal information? What for? How will it help?

  • Apple's Ive and Newson unveil unadorned fir trees for Claridge's Christmas installation

That just looks boring and uninspired.  Christmas is a season of celebration and joy (and this is explicitly called the Claridge CHRISTMAS tree installation).

There is nothing about that setup that makes me feel joyful.  Complete fail by Ive.  Ive is usually really good about tying function and design, but this just looks like some shallow attempt to produce something "chic."
In a huge fan of Ive's work and have been for a long time.

    But it I agree here.

Great design relates to the purpose. This does not.

Does it it look nice? Sure.

But it it's almost spooky. Not celebratory.

Actually I have to disagree, the set seems like it is meant to instil a sense of serenity. The true meaning of Christmas is not about gold, glitter and presents, it's about celebrating the birth of Jesus and to reflect for a moment on the sanctity of life. If anything this set seems to capture this feeling way more than any other over the top treasure trove of presents I have seen throughout the years. If this set is supposed to communicate what this holiday is really about, Ive is spot on here.

  • Everything you need to know about USB-C & Thunderbolt 3 on Apple's new MacBook Pro

So much for "Universal" in "USB" if the cables all have different capabilities, but look virtually the same.
It's the same complaint that I have with USB-C right now, the problem has been moved from the ports to the cables. The upside to all of this is that all we need to do is transition to a state where we only have USB-C ports and cables that support the full spec. The downside is that right now the average non-IT consumer will not be able to understand why a certain port will work with just a specific cable but not with the other while the plugs are exactly the same.
