  • Apple's first million HomePods now shipping from Inventec - report

Still not going to be as good as my home theater system that I have. It’ll be interesting to see what this does though.

Wont likely beat out my home theatre, but i'm looking for a pair to put in the bedroom. Stereo pair and Airplay 2 will work great with the Apple TV (my only input source).

  • Alpine iLX-F309 equips CarPlay-compatible in-dash receiver with 'floating' 9-inch display

    Living the dream here.

I Have the iLX-107. CarPlay is the way to go (or Android auto if you are bent that way). Would by a car without it, or if it could easily be upgraded/installed. Regarding the cost though, I needed a new Amplifier for it all to connect work with my vehicle so I recommend a little bit of research before going out and buying a new unit.  Especially if your car has a more advanced audio system with navigation already installed.

Wireless is nice to have but I wouldn't call it a deal breaker.  If anything, the connection is more stable.  My unit disconnects from time to time, but doesn't bother me too much as reconnecting is dead simple.

I also found a Qi pad that fits nicely and charges my phone via the cigarette lighter plug.

Like I said, living the dream.

  • Battery tech suitable for future iPhone promises 3x the power density, full charge in minu...

Apple might be drooling at the idea that they can make their devices even thinner with this battery but I need to state this clearly: THEY ARE THIN AND LIGHT ENOUGH RIGHT NOW. If this technology pans out then put this battery in and give us 24+ hour usage on most of our mobile devices.
Using a denser battery tech to make a smaller device isn't the only benefit—you can also add more technology. I don't expect Apple to ever say with their iPhone, "let's keep the battery volume the same size to get 3x the usage on a single charge." No scenario I can think of makes that happen. Consider the iPhone 6S series which added the haptic engine which reduced the battery size. Then you have the iPhone 7 series which brought back the larger battery when they removed the headphone jack, and which also allowed for a barometric vent to be added in its place and everything at the top to be moved down so that considerably better camera tech could be added. Going with a smaller battery is going to happen once the technology allows for significant density growth. There's just no other reasonable solution for a CE company. Even on the Apple Watch—which is where I'd think a new, low volume, and expensive battery tech would be tested first in a shipping product, if not something even smaller, like AirPods—if they can get triple the density they'd very deduce that battery volume by at least half. I certainly would.
An iPhone SE with 3D Touch and all day battery life would be dope.

  • Fifth generation of Apple TV to bring 4K compatibility, little else - report

Great news, even if it was a forgone conclusion. Most TVs being sold now are 4K. I bought a 60" 1080P TV for my living room just before the release of the 4th Gen AppleTV. Buying the AppleTV was a no brainer at that time. I just bought a new 4k TV for the Bedroom, and not buying an AppleTV until a 4k version is released. I have to say I really can't wait for the day it arrives!
