  • Apple launching program to store content closer to consumers

Will having “content” data stored at an ISP relieve Apple from involvement or at least some pressure in turning over usage data to law enforcement while making it easier for law enforcement to muscle local ISP?

  • Facebook warns users of iOS 13 location tracking permissions

    Two things:

    1.  The babies are crying, the babies are crying.

    2.  facebook already knows where the user is.  They have the IP address from the user.  No matter where one is logged in, they have the IP address.
Why can’t Apple provide the User option of forcing selected apps to be pushed to a VPN that User selects. If FB mouse wants cheese feed it location Dara from VPN or cycle to Apple VPN.

  • Apple Maps vehicles to expand Canadian recon this summer

I use Apple Maps when I travel but in Edmonton, Canada’s 5th largest metro Apple Maps sucks. No detail, no transit, no flyover - it’s a garbage app.  So we shut it off or down as it’s usefulness is almost zero. Instead we use Open Maps apps like maps.me and of course Google on the family phones. When Apple gets around to filling in some big holes in Canada coverage I will take a fresh look but  I still have not got over my pain from iTunes changes years ago that wiped out my own loaded music etc.  so now use Spotify and Amazon Music. I have slowly moved off Apple apps. Think I might get a Samsung or Chinese device this next refresh if I can synch all my devices in the cloud on their platform.

  • Huawei may be open to selling its 5G modem, but only to Apple

False information this quote from the article “Indeed there's been a push in Europe and North America to keep Huawei out of 5G infrastructure, though that wouldn't necessarily impact modems.” That push is from the USA not anywhere else.  The USA is but one country in North America. Europe, UK and Canada have not banned Huawei at this time. Nor has Mexico and it’s also in North America.

Then a poster said Canada has banned Huawei as a member of 5 Eyes. That is not true - it remains under study and Canada will likely work with UK and Europe to ensure safety in use. Canadian telcos support use of Huawei.

Frankly the planet is a lot better served when we see technology advancing in places other than the USA. So much American propaganda being dumped into all forms of social media and swallowed up by Americans.

  • AirPods 2.0 -- What we expect & what we hope to see

The shape and rigidity hurt my ears and like the standard set included with the iPhone, i threw them out.  My hope is that new earbuds from Apple will see the introduction of soft silicon type in-ear buds like some of the competition. I am using a competitors now - and happy, but wish Apple would produce something for people who don’t like the fit, feel or rigidity of the the current Apple products.
