  • Apple is right to ditch folding iPad plans in favor of the iPhone Fold

"For me, there was only ever one option. The iPhone Fold should have been in Apple's lineup years ago."

Good thing everyone has an opinion, bc this is definitely not a definitive statement. Foldable phones are ridiculously niche and so far kinda goofy. Apple has long been more the kind to hold off on something until they feel they can make a better version. I won't be surprised to see them decide there's no polishing a turd.

  • iPad updated with A16 chip, still lacks Apple Intelligence

The new iPad is 11th gen. I bought some 10th gen to update our family a month or so ago. I'm surprised they left the baseline iPad as the only product without Apple Intelligence. But this update leaves me feeling just fine about not having bothered to wait.

  • A smaller Mac mini brings big problems for server farms and accessory makers

So it looks like there is about a 1/2" space between each of those Minis, which means about 2" per mini, which in a 19" rack means you are fitting 9 in a 5U space. Depth for racks range, but usually starts at about 17.7", which if you were doing flat Minis, you are probably fitting 4 in a 1U space. The new Mini is 5x5, which means you can have 3 Minis wide and depending on depth, you are looking at a minimum of 3 rows of 3 or 9 Minis in a 2U space. Seems to me the new Minis will be more space efficient pretty much however they are being racked. Yes the racking pattern may be different than the current one, but this seems like there is still plenty of efficiency to be gained.

  • Compared: AirPods 4 vs AirPods Pro 2 -- ANC without ear tips could tip the scales

Meanwhile I haven't been able to use the prior buds and pods from Apple bc the basic ones fall out of my ears. The pros eventually start slipping some but they stay in much better and the different tips help a lot in comparison. I'll just wait for the 2's to be on a decent sale or for 3s to show up

  • The new Apple Silicon Mac Pro badly misses the mark for most of the target market

"In every case, the lack of PCI-E GPU support is the killing factor for the new Mac Pro"

You gave a music industry example.  Except none of the DAWs use intense GPUs or process data on GPUs.  Prior to the M series, most buying Macs leave the video alone and focus on the CPU as that was what bound the performance of DAWs.  I can easily imagine folks getting the new one and filling it w/PCI-e cards for Pro Tools and such.  Rack that and some interfaces and you have a very strong setup with plenty of extra expandability via Thunderbolt.
