  • macOS 26 says goodbye to the classic hard drive icon

That’s kind of a nondescript icon. Apple could do better. Way better.

I still have a zillion icons in my old CandyBar (Panic software icon application) collection, which miraculously still runs in Sequoia!
    Icon Factory had great icons!
Dude! I totally forgot about CandyBar. Will it run on current operating systems? Can it still be downloaded? I know I have a license somewhere.

  • China calls Trump's trade war a joke, jumps tariffs on U.S. goods to 125%

This is what happens when foreign policy is driven by ego and ignorance. American corporations started this years ago in an effort to increase profits while at the same time produce cheap consumer goods. We taught the Chinese how to manufacture goods, and now we are blaming the Chinese for doing what we taught them to do. Is there an imbalance—yes. Is this the way to rectify the imbalance —no. It took us decades to get her, and it will take decades to make sustainable changes. For better or worse, we now  we now live in global economy. And it will never be like things were in the 1950’s. We simply cannot go back. The only reason why we had global manufacturing dominance then was because we were the only manufacturer that had mass-production capabilities after World War II.

  • Developers take note: Apple Silicon is required to develop apps for visionOS

It wouldn’t surprise me at all that Sonoma is the last OS for Intel machines. Why should Apple put in the additional internal effort or restrict its development path?

  • Eve announces AirPlay adapter Eve Play

I like the fact that it handles both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi. I also like that it has an Ethernet port and RCA connections, two things Belkin’s offering is missing.

  • M3 Mac mini, 14-inch &16-inch MacBook Pro aren't coming in the fall

I don’t see the point of continuing the 13” MacBook Pro. The M series Apple Silicon chips makes the MacBook Air quite formidable. If you need more power, move up to the 14” or 16” MacBook Pro. Creatives tend to want larger screens. I just can’t imagine a use case where a 13” would be preferred over a 14” for pro users. Not to say that there isn’t a use case. I just don’t see it.
