iOS 12.1 beta points to 4K external display support on new iPad Pros
seltzdesign said:I think an iPad with no bezzel like the iPhone X would enable it to be truely used in any orientation and therefore could feasably have a lightning port on one side an a USB C on the other. That way you can still use all current accessories and use any new stuff just as well, plus you could use both at the same time, greatly increasing its capabilities and making it a proper Pro tablet.
I won't rule out the possibility of iPad Pro dropping Lightning for USB-C if Apple has a good reason to...but it is very unlikely. No good reason has ever been demonstrated. Even this article, despite its attempts to, does not mention a single thing that can't be done so long as Lightning is the connector. -

If you have an iPhone X, should you upgrade to the iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max?
I’m sure Apple is not interested in motivating iPhone X upgrades this year. Not even remotely.
Apple is interested in motivating upgrades from the many iPhone 6, 7, and 8 out there who have a decidedly old-looking device now, by comparison to what’s available. There are now 3 modern models with 3 different price points for that crowd to consider.
iPhone X to Xs is least significant annual update ever in the history of iPhone...but for good reason. This year isn’t about that. It’s about introducing the XR and the XS Max alongside the XS as a compelling line of flagship phones.
I only wish the the prices were $699, $899, and $999 respectively...and they were probably supposed to be. But this is Apple’s pathetic way of coping with anticipated effects from tariffs. -
Apple 'wants to serve everyone' with wide iPhone price range, Tim Cook says
gmgravytrain said:Apple wants to serve everyone with a wide price range of iPhones? Every reviewer always ends up saying that all iPhones are too expensive for the masses and maybe even for some of the elites. I never see any iPhone reviewer writing about how iPhones are worth the price. If that's the case, is anything worth the price? Going to sports games, movies, dinner at a restaurant, the price of gasoline, a day at the amusement park, a pack of cigarettes? However, when it comes to Apple, it's always how their products are too expensive for the average Joe and yet Apple sells millions of iPhones every single year. If something is too expensive, then simply buy something cheaper. Problem solved. I doubt Apple will be able to sell many iPhones in India, but I'm sure we all know that much. Apple doesn't sell $100 smartphones and I don't think they should. I have never whined about not being able to afford a Lamborghini or Ferrari. That's my tough luck and I don't feel those companies are to blame for selling expensive products (beyond my personal means). I can always buy something cheaper and be satisfied. I'll never understand why people have a beef with Apple for selling so-called expensive products. No one has ever been forced to buy an Apple product.
“Average” people drop the the cost of an iPhone on a long weekend at the beach. The value per dollar in an iPhone is incomparable to most things. Maybe a house, then an iPhone, then a car, in terms of value proposition. Nothing else even comes close.
