There’s nothing inherently wrong with Tim or any of the other current crop of presenters when it comes to “getting the word out.” But Applle doesn’t have Steve anymore and nobody could capture an audience quite like he could
Microsoft, Google, Nvidia, AMD, AWS,... they all do live to get that extra energy. None of them have Jobs.
And who watches those? Who is blown away by those?
Those being interested in their products.
The iPhone launch 2024 keynote has been streamed 26 million times on YouTube. WWDC 2024 with all the AI hit 12 million.
The Nvidia GTC launch from 9 days ago is already at 37 million.

Apple holds 10x more followers on YouTube than Nvidia. It doesn't translate into viewers. Yes - some iPhone users have Apple TV but in terms of buzz and getting YouTube views the keynotes from Apple are not selling ticket.

  • Consumers stick to the edges of Apple's 'good, better, best' iPad pricing philosophy

it's an old pattern. Apple has long cultivated a premium image, and its users have consistently proven willing to pay for it.

    • 38% pay premium for iPad Pro. For iPhone Pro it is +50%.
    • On iPhone the mid-tier is doing aroung 40%. iPad it is 15% with Air.
    • 47% buy the base iPad or mini while iPhone SE 3rd gen reached 6% when launched.
    • iPad Air is now available in 2 sizes but is bought by 1/3 fewer than before.

Stating that users "consistenly proven willing to pay for it (premium)" is not correct. Those buying iPads have clearly voted for the base model. The question is: "Can Apple make the mid-tier iPad interesting to users?" Making it more expensive and throwing huge processors at it has caused 1/3 to leave it. Why? And how can it be fixed? That is the article I would like to read.

The videos are much better than the live presentations.
Videos are like not going to that concert or play. There is nothing at stake and presentations are worse for it. We get 10-15 minutes of Mother Nature and too many odd managers from Apple. Nvidia and AMD do live while Apple is to lazy/scared/... to enter the circle.

Live would give us a CEO taking a computer from a manila envelope, a marketing guy jumping to a gym mat showing wireless, and "you get a mouse" moments. It gives us something to talk about while keynotes today are "long build ups and disappointing drops" matching electronic dance music and celebrity funerals. Go live and connect with users.

  • A new iPhone 16e survey overlooks who the device is for

The target audience is budget, corporate, mother-in-law, kids, and non-techies. It has DCI-P3 for no good reason as elderly don't have the eyesight and the rest don't care. Display repairs are now $100 more. That makes no sense to the users. OLED is pretty but too much. It has no MagSafe forcing elderly to fumble with connectors or do the "guess a position" game to charge. It does however offer Animojis that are of no use to most of the intended users. Apple could have given it Touch ID like on iPad Air to keep the cost down. The battery is too big and it comes with satellite connectivity - but why when MagSafe is not present? Is hiking Yellowstone that important to grandma? It is available in white and black. Either drop white to make distribution efficient or give it vibrant colors like 5c and XR (RED). The specs are simply not right.
