  • Apple said to be cutting iPhone X production in half due to slow sales

Didn’t we do this last week, same bs story from an an outlet that’s routinely wrong about Apple. Funny enough, when Apple releases its quarter results the same oulets release statements on why they aren’t really wrong, it’s just Apples numbers that don’t make sense. How many times are people going to fall for this.

  • EU slaps Qualcomm with $1.23 billion fine over illegal chip payment to Apple

I fine it curious that Qualcomm was the only company that was fined. Will Apple not get fined for taking the money, this seems like something the EU would do.
My first thought exactly. But on second thought: Apple did not force Qualcomm into an exclusive licensing agreement. It didn't lock out any competitors by entering into the agreement. So the EU doesn't really have a case against Apple for abusing any monopoly.
So apparently Qualcomm was forcing Apple to buy its chips at a certain price and at that time Apple had no other company to turn to and get cheaper prices. Also Qualcomm wouldn’t license it’s FRAND patents to any other manufacturers for anything less than Apple was paying so Apple really had to just pay up.

  • Apple HomePod smart speaker preorders begin Friday, shipments start Feb. 9

“The HomePod is designed to work with an Apple Music subscription.”
Apple arrogance in full effect. I won’t be able to tell Siri to play music in Spotify? Forget it! I can’t do it in the car either and it’s super annoying. Apple is still not opening up Siri fully while Amazon and Google do.

Also quite surprising the HomePod doesn’t support stereo playback and do multi room at launch.
I'm fairly certain Google Home didn't do multi room at launch and I think the same is true for the Amazon Echo. Now before you say the bar has gone up and Apple needs to step up it's game, let's not forgot about the Google Home Mini that was caught recording everything and sending the data back to Google's servers. Apple doesn't need another scandal "HomePod Gate"where the device screws up like the Home Mini did, Google can get a pass for screwing up but not Apple. Also multi room audio is hard to do, if Apple needs time to perfect it and make sure it actually works that fine.

Wow, forget replacing Sonos at least for a while.

Also where is a the marketing for this? why am I supposed to want this?

Here you go, curtesy of Apple's home page, and there's more info that dropped today about how the HomePod works. Now as far as for traditional marketing like TV ads those will probably air in the next couple weeks.

  • If iPhone X demand is less than expected, analyst expects it to be 'end of life' when repl...

He predicts the iPhone X will be "end of life" in the summer of 2018, instead of being retained as a lower-cost option in the following year. If this is the case, it would be the first time that Apple has not retained the previous year's model to allow for a wide range of iPhones available at many price points.

So when this doesn’t pan out will Ming Chi Kuo weigh in on why he was wrong. When has Apple ever done this with any of its flagship products?
