An Apple Vision Pro successor may need to be tethered to an iPhone or Mac
I predicted using your iPhone as CPU/GPU for AR glasses way back in 2016: https://medium.com/@philvanallen/3-clues-for-an-apple-ar-ecosystem-67acef86af94 -
Apple Pay likely to get boost from Visa & Mastercard mandating contactless payment termina...
No, the US and Europe systems are different, and use different technology. US = Chip and Signature, EU = Chip and PIN. http://www.mytotalretail.com/post/u-s-vs-europe-taking-retail-technology/ It's dumb, but there it is. Contactless will take over in the long run. Love my Apple Watch for that. The internet speed for these terminals in the US must be crap. -
Rumor: Apple working with Carl Zeiss on AR glasses to debut in 2018
Another key acquisition for AR was PrimeSense, original makes of the Kinect - this technology can be used for 3D object mapping and object recognition. This is how Microsoft Hololens works. And the phone can live in your pocket and transmit video to the glasses via, essentially, AirPlay. As @Williamh says, a video version of the W1 chip. I predicted something like this here: https://medium.com/@philvanallen/3-clues-for-an-apple-ar-ecosystem-67acef86af94#.2u04hw17h
