  • Apple to unveil AI-enabled Safari browser alongside new operating systems

The AI based ad blocker sounds like a compelling feature. However, I fully expect that those who benefit from selling ads will come up with their own AI to block the ad blockers. Blocker versus anti blocker. Full on AI wars lie ahead. This should come as no surprise since none of the ad blockers I've tried over the years, including 1Blocker, are fully effective. Plus, a number of websites are already detecting the presence of an ad blocker and refusing to show the content.

Maybe this is the time for Apple to reconsider building their own gateway/router. If they built their own gateway/router they could put their Eraser technology at the head of your WAN connection where it can serve as a supercharged Apple Pi-hole. Besides being a tasty sounding network appliance It could also be a convenient place to stick a HomeKit gateway with support for all of the networks support by Matter and Thread. No more need to hide matter/thread support in things like Apple TVs and HomePods, where it's always seemed like a weird mix of functional responsibilities. Speaker is a gateway too? Okay.
That going to pretty tough considering Apple controls the browser.  As long as Apple is not manipulating the DOM is going to be impossible for the website to know if anything is being blocked.

Web ads suck but how else do you think your favorite websites will stay in business? Are you prepared to pay a subscription to every site? I doubt it…
The ad industry has brought this upon themselves.  The trick is not to just block the ads, but do it without being detected.  If Apple can dance around the “turn off your ad blocker” alert its game over for ads on the web.

  • Despite Apple pushback, Oregon has passed its right-to-repair bill banning parts pairing

Well done Oregon! Look forward to seeing more States take similar steps for the benefit of consumers.
Consumers are now going to have genuine parts in they iPhone swapped out for cheap Chinese knockoffs and repair shops will then sell the genuine parts on EBay.  Oregon should really be focusing on it homeless and drug problem.  Most there can’t even afford an iPhone.

Really? Their investigation is going to take 12 months.  Seems the socialists don’t like working very hard?! 🤣

  • Under pressure, Apple will restore Epic Games' developer account in the EU

Apple probably knew all along that they would have to acquiesce and give the dev account back. But at least now the EU is held as responsible as Epic since they publicly came to their rescue/defense. Seems a good strategy in keeping Epic accountable.
The contract is written by the gatekeeper. That is not a strong position to hold. If it goes against the DMA then Apple will have to rewrite. The best Apple can do is to keep a low profile before someone decides on a DMA 2.0. If a battle can't be won then don't enter it. There is no way EU politicians will accept Apple doing more of "we're a tiny company with 5 small App Stores", "proprietary connectors are eco-friendly and better for competition", "we have to add 43% on top of all app prices", "we decide what kind of apps are allowed"... in the EU those days are over for Apple.
To be honest it doesn’t look like those days are over.  Apple can charge what the market will bare, and the App Stire is not even that popular in the EU to begin with.  iMessage didn’t need to integrate with other messaging apps which I think is the real win for Apple.
