  • Apple's 'iPhone 8' might ship with wireless charging, front-facing 3D camera disabled due ...

    Hmmm....

Is it me, or are the doom and gloom reports starting earlier this year?  Also, are we assuming that the iPhone Pro will be launching in September?

Make sure I have this correct.  There're software issues in a system not due out for months at the earliest.  Is testing and iteration not part of product development?
In other news, the 2018 and 2019 iPhone is having some software issues too, hopefully they can figure it out in time...

I'm not one to speculate but these rumors are questionable.  Hundreds of successful iQ rollouts and Apple's custom designed power solutions, including fast charging tech in current products, refutes any real threat.
On the camera front, I'm sure someone in any of the AR teams acquired in the past couple years, might figure it out.  Or maybe Apple bought them all for fun, oh wait, AR worked flawless in the demos.

Really?  These pathetic rumors over a month before the keynote?  We could just wait and see what happens...

  • Will the 'iPhone 8' cost $1200+? Apple has already been pushing flagship prices higher for...

    Thoughts...

For many of us, our phones are one of our most personal and important possessions.  These devices provide a connection to not just the internet, but the people and data that underlie modern society.  To call the iPhone just a "phone" is a gross understatement, and such devices are available of one desires.

Many price guesses have been floated, none of which offer anything but speculation.  One logical guarantee, advancements in technology and material engineering will continue.  Historically, Apple always shares advancements down product lines as it becomes cost effective and supply improves.  No one should really expect Apple to implode their margins by pricing the iPhone Pro lower than the technology and market allows.  Such expectations within a free market are dangerous to far more than just Apple's margins.
Every year Apple pushes their devices further along the bleeding edge, regardless of a buyers intelligence or care to appreciate such relentless pursuit.  If one cannot appreciate the cohesive result of such engineering combined with quantifiable planetary betterment, perhaps another manufacturer would suit.

Personally, if the iPhone Pro can provide next generation technology with beautiful aesthetics, I'm willing to pay a few hundred dollars more.  I'm waiting for an iMac Pro as well, yet nobody seems to be upset that such an advanced device costs more than the iMac.

At the end of the day, the current iPhone 7 series is an amazing product family that will handle fluid AR technology and takes great pictures.  As each generation iterates throughout the world, I'm excited that Apple champions such noble pursuit among all technology companies.

    Thank you Apple.

  • Tesla in talks for own music service, skipping likes of Apple Music & Spotify - report

    Some things to note:
If like me you use Siri for many functions while driving, Tesla doesn't care about you.  I do a lot through Siri encompassing; iMessage, reminders, Apple Music control, multiple HomeKit functions, calendar appointments, emails, calls, general reference questions and a few other silly things.  I understand that not everyone is locked into Apples ecosystem, nor rely on Siri so heavily but for me she's indispensable.  My phone is in my pocket or computer bag a lot of the time to keep me from looking at it and I shouldn't have to make compromises in an ~80,000 vehicle.  If Tesla really wanted me as a customer they would support my needs, while attempting to dazzle me with their proprietary infotainment system.  That's also why I will not buy a Lexus/Toyota, good luck out performing Apple and Google, maybe Samsung can help you with your Linux.
Full Disclosure: I want to love Tesla but actually cannot get past how horribly boring and bland they appear.  Tesla had an opportunity to craft a polarizing beauty, without the trappings of petrol systems.  Even the BMW i8 has character, too bad that partnership never happened...

  • Why Apple is unlikely to ditch Touch ID for facial recognition with 'iPhone 8'

     Lets use some commonsense here.
Apple would keep a screen integrated touchID sensor, if only for Apple Pay, they would not break the authentication process with a facial scan.

A realistic implementation of the technologies, reveals general authentication through facial scanning, with touchID providing higher security verification.

Assuming Apple even cares at this point about security use, a far more plausible use for this tech is camera integration.  Integrating this tech into either camera or both, yields greater benefit to apple's ecosystem.  The augmented reality, camera effects and App Store APIs are a exponentially greater return on investment.

Additionally, no one has a clue to possible resolution of said theoretical security system.  PrimeSense had some cutting edge tech when acquired, so I wouldn't be surprised if Apple developed micrometer face scanning tech.  It's realistic to assume high resolution imaging at less than .5 meters, although analysis and comparison to the secure enclave could require a redesign.  Anyone have any stats on the bandwidth and RAM available to the secure enclave as it stands?

    just my two cents
