FCC looks to scrap net neutrality rules, report says
You have to admit that in its purest form greed is awe inspiring. That certain repulsive companies would plunge us into a modern dark internet age.
The costs will without a doubt get passed on to consumers, squeezing those that already don’t have enough. Essentially a toll lane to the internet, and a new kind of paywall.
Thank you Apple for standing up to the companies that our own government will not protect us from.
Time to stand up behind Apple and draw a line in the sand. It’s never been so easy to fight back.

You can’t have access to my phone, you can’t break my privacy, and you can’t deny my right to acces the internet.

Trump expects Apple to build manufacturing plant in Texas
We do need beneficial trading partners, but a relationship is a two way street, China can’t be allowed to take advantage of the US. This isn’t anti-China, or political, just common sense.
Speaking to the actual post, it would be inspiring to see Apple pull off the automated manufacturing facility they attempted in the 80s. Even though this isn’t Apple’s business model, it would be a testament to modern manufacturing. -

Facebook 'unintentionally' harvested email contacts from 1.5M users
Winding down a feature or a project usually involves some planning. Depending on the type of shutdown, there’s hardware, API references, virtual machines, encryption keys, SSL certs, server side scripts, database connections, etc.
So to be clear, Facebook dumps resources into new privacy destroying features but can’t be bothered with appropriate asset retirement.
I work in cyber security and Facebook’s platform cannot be secure with legacy assets in play. I would expect a serious hacking incident soon, as their attack surface is not properly managed. The very best cyber security software cannot protect against ignorance and poor implementation.
This might sound like common sense; do not but private things on Facebook, do not connect any financials, do not use the Sign in with Facebook option, and do not underestimate Facebook’s deplorable track record. -

SpamSandwich said:Good. Let competition for customers determine what is acceptable, instead of biased or self-interested rules pushed by Washington.
In reality ISPs will charge the Netflix, YouTube, Apple and Amazons of the world. In turn, these companies will pass costs on to the consumer over time, an ISP Trojan Horse. If there’s no direct accountability, why would an ISP not charge more to these companies? Truely consider that statement, ISPs can create new revenue streams in perpetuity without oversight or becoming the bad guy. Think you hate how cable companies bundle channels now, apply that concept to internet accessibility....
Alternatively, an ISP could block/slow any content competing with their own, or accelerate their own content free of charge while leaving competitors at subpar speed.
The problem here is that we lose protections from the wizards behind the proverbial curtain.
I for one don’t trust a single ISP, maybe Apple’s satellite initiative will save us all. -
Apple addresses ad industry complaints over Safari tracking prevention feature
Thank you Apple,
You have the the courage and leadership to consider my privacy, considering how much you could make beinging google.
Security is worth fighting for, from hackers or governments, if there's a difference anymore.
The internet does not exist or operate based on ads, that's only one business model.
My privacy forces government agencies to actually work at their job, ads should be no different.
Companies need to stop acting like children, get creative with ingagement and man up to the real world.
Earn my time and my business, anything else is disrespectful to the customer and the company both.

mike fix said:The Galaxy Fold is the first phone I want that isn't an iPhone. Due to Apple's lack of a new mac pro which is causing me to switch to PC, Samsung is giving me a good reason to upgrade from my iPhone.

Strange that you gave a reason for the computer switch, but didn’t articulate the reason behind your $2000 bag of trade-offs. -
