  • No, Bloomberg, end-to-end encryption isn't a worthless 'marketing device'

First, there are plenty of good people and even some respectable departments at Bloomberg.  Statistically, they can’t report everything wrong, even as opinion pieces.

Second, the US polarization wouldn’t be fixed with accurate, unbiased reporting.  So let’s not pretend that we can mend our nation with something so easy.  I have solutions but they would take me far off topic, into another bottle of wine, and ultimately banned.

Third, I like the idea of a high court removed from traditional power bases, that privately reviews “journalism” for accuracy.  Any news considered incendiary or popular could be subpoenaed for accounting.

It’s shouldn’t be “Freedom of Speech” when a profit generating platform can lie without recourse.  The officers of a publicly traded company cannot lie or mislead their stockholders without being accountable.  Yet journalists, can lay waste to whole governments or industries.

If the pen is mightier than the sword, your sword isn’t against their throat...

  • Why that 40% performance hit for full 'ZombieLoad' mitigations probably won't affect you

So now we start to hear demands to move to A series on the Mac. Screw Intel! Well, A-based Macs will almost certainly kill Boot Camp. How much work and expense will be required by developers to recompile their code to work on Arm architecture? Will Apple be able to come up with a Rosetta style solution so all those Intel based, 64 bit apps will run on an ARM Mac? So many unanswered questions that need answers before dumping Intel.
Maybe the new Mac Pro will offer a windows module that allows a PC architecture chip and extra boot loader.

  • SCOTUS ruling & US-China trade war 'not a threat' to Apple's growth potential

Trump should have worked with Europe to force China into submission, instead of going after everyone.  Europe is having the same problems with China and our combined pressure might have been enough.  He could have handled Europe later, Brexit has proven they’re not going anywhere.

If China will not play fair and respect the US economy, then we cannot show China respect.
The practice of not formally recognizing Taiwan as a sovereign nation is a form of respect.  I can think of many ways to make China do the right thing....

  • Anticipation over Apple's new modular Mac Pro mounts as first iffy renderings hit the web

I would add that the Mac Pro would get a T3 chip, they would want to shift more overhead off of the CPU/GPU.
The idea of a master high speed data bus is what the X2 chip would be.  In theory, put the X2 on the motherboard with the RAM, and  the CPU/GPU units will run in parallel.  The X2 would then open channel(s) to the processing units and dynamically change their tasks.  Perhaps throw a bunch of NeuralCores on the X2 and let machine learning watch how you work, anticipate your next action, and eliminate human observed latency.

    Anything else for the wishlist?

  • Group FaceTime iOS 12.1 eavesdropping bug lawsuit is dismissed

It’s nice to hear that every once in a while a stupid lawsuit is dismissed.

Too late, the damage has already been done. I've seen several iKnockoff Knights cite this ridiculous lawsuit as proof Apple is spying on us, which in turn causes more idiots to believe it. Meanwhile they use ANDROID.....
You talk as if you know what Apple is doing behind the scenes. For all you know they are in bed with the government, like every other company.
Except for the whole end to end encryption thing.  Apple knows if they can get in, the government will want in too.

Thanks for your attempt at fear mongering...
