  • Apple's batterygate settlement fund didn't have enough money to pay a $92.17 check

The date on the cheque is "03/01/2024", Huntington Bank is a US bank, yes? So would the date not indicate March 1st, instead of the 3rd of January. I thought in the US, dates are written as MM/DD/YYYY not as DD/MM/YYYY.

Funny story in the silly season. No products, no announcements, and iPhone rumors are mostly about colors and last-minute production problems as always in July.
A bit surprised that US banks still handle checks at all.
I agree, It is strange about cheques there. Here everything is transfer, either through a service (like Bizum) or by IBAN.

  • How to use CarPlay's handy new features in iOS 18

What I would like to see is the ability to adjust the volume. Whether playing the car’s own media sources or the iPhone, when directions or warnings are given it is loud enough to make everyone in the car cringe. If for some reason I’ve missed a setting step, HELP (deliberately shouting)
    Hello,

I had the opposite problem, Siri directions being too quiet.  I found two ways to adjust the volume:

On your iPhone, Settings > Maps > Voice Indications, there are three settings:  High, Normal, Low

However, the one that I find most useful: While Siri is actively giving you directions: Using your car's volume control, lower or raise the volume to the level you want. This adjusts the volume of Siri, not what ever is playing in the background. You have to do this while Siri is actively talking, or it controls the general volume.

Second vote for a round watch bezel.
If you make the watch round, then where do you put the complications? To me, the corners are the perfect place for them. I have three watch faces I swipe to depending on which complications I'm going to be using (working out, cooking, normal).

  • Apple confirms HomePod audio sources limited to Apple Music, iTunes purchases, podcasts & ...

I don't understand why there is so much disappointment that other music or audio services/apps (for now at least) will have to use AirPlay to send music/audio to HomePod. Is there a disadvantage that I'm not aware of? Isn't it the same as when you watch or listen to something from your computer to your Apple TV? or your iPhone/iPad to your AirPods? I find it quick and easy. I must be missing something.

  • Apple HomePod smart speaker preorders begin Friday, shipments start Feb. 9

I was assuming in the Apple TV settings you would just select the HomePod as the output source the same way you can select Bluetooth headphones.
OT: For those not aware, you don't have to open the menu/settings to change your audio-out. When you are at the Apple TV Springboard or an Apple app, hold down the play/pause button on the remote for a couple seconds, a menu will appear where you can directly select your AirPods, TV, or other BT/Speakers, there is also "Choose Music" option here, not sure if that is for Home Sharing, Apple Music, or both.
