  • Meta, Amazon, and more want 10-year ban on states regulating AI

AI will be the most disruptive technology since the Industrial Revolution.  As such it desperately needs heavy regulation lest it destabilize society.  I have a few suggestions:

    (1) All AI tasks are assigned a human equivalent and must pay all taxes that a human worker would've earned.  The money earned will be used to help those put out of work by AI.

    (2) We should create the equivalent of footnotes for AI.  These footnotes can be included in text documents, and even embedded in images/video.  These AI footnotes would reveal what/how AI was used.  This provides transparency to the AI world.

    (3) the ability of AI training to scrape all info on the internet and elsewhere without permission or compensation must end.

These heavy regulations would undoubtedly slow down AI, but they would also give societies time to keep AI from literally destroying the world.

  • App Store Freedom Act hopes to bring alternative app stores to US iPhones

As a long time iPhone fan, my number one issue issue is security/privacy.  There is no other issue even close. I believe that the real issue here is companies that want to steal our data, track us, and cheat us.  The "walled garden" is the best thing that ever happened to Smart Phones.  Apple - stay strong!

I value security in my iPhone far above repairability and longevity (and everything else).  My iPhone has access to all of my info (financial, personal, political, etc, etc).  I believe that many in the "Right to Repair" actually are trying to weaken security/privacy rather than for their stated reasons.   I expect my iPhone to last 3-4 years before replacement, and have been delighted to get 5+ years lifespan.

I strongly support Apple for standing string for Security/Privacy, and oppose anyone who would weaken this.

  • Apple admits third-party App Stores in Europe are inevitable

My belief (for what it is worth) the only alternative app stores will be provided by the big players (google, meta, big gaming companies, adobe, etc) which can choose to sell their wares only on their own App Store.  Despite most users NOT wanting to work with non-Apple app stores, they will have no choice for some of their desired apps.  Little players will be DOA in the App Store market.

  • Apple & Ireland 'close to deal' to protect government from losses while holding $17.7B in ...

It is clear to any reasonable person that Apple owes these taxes.  I wish that Apple (as the most valuable company in the world) would set a good example, and pay its fair share of taxes in the European Union, the USA, and around the world.
