New MacBook Pro arrives with M4 Pro, M4 Max, and a black colorway
Wasn’t the Space Grey color changed to Space “Black” for the M3 MBP? During the Apple video they acted like it was a brand new color. I remember seeing review videos talking about M3 models being noticeably darker but still not black. I could be misremembering though. My memory isn’t what it once was.The new models look nice, especially the matte screen option, and I would love to get one. But, my M1 Max MBP with 64GB of RAM is still meeting my needs. Don’t want to drop another $4k + unless I have to. Adding a 4th monitor to my setup would be pretty sweet though… -
AirPods Max just got the laziest and most disappointing update possible
It would’ve been better if Apple just left them unchanged. It wouldn’t have taken much effort to swap the H1 chip for the H2. At the very least they should have also dropped the price by $100. They were overpriced when they came out in 2020 but back then you could chalk it up to the Apple tax and they were using current technology. But charging $549 for a pair of headphones with technology that’s 4 years old is crazy. I would understand if they weren’t a particularly popular product but I see the dang things all over the place these days. At the gym I go to I actually see more people wearing AirPods Max than I do AirPods Pro and AirPods Max shouldn’t really be worn while working out. I was hoping Apple would at least update the AirPods Max with the H2 chip because I need a pair of over the ear headphones to give my ears a break from my AirPods Pro 2. It’s become painful to wear my AirPods Pro 2 because the silicon tips have started giving me a painful rash inside my ears. I’ve tried foam tips but they don’t do well with sweat or being cleaned with alcohol wipes. Looks like I’ll have to go with a pair of Sony XM5’s. -
Compared: AirPods Max vs AirPods Max with USB-C
So in 4 years all they’ve done is update the charging to USB-C and changed some of the colors? And they still cost $549?!? They use 4 years old tech and lack most of the best features of the AirPods Pro 2. At a bare minimum they needed to update the H1 chip to the H2 and give them feature parity with the AirPods Pro 2. If they had actually updated the AirPods Max I would’ve bought a pair. But I’m not paying $549 for 4 year old tech that was overpriced when they originally came out. With the “changes” they made these should only cost $349 - $400 max. I guess I’ll have to get a pair of Sony WH-1000XM5‘s and just deal with them not instantly connecting like AirPods. -
GM's CarPlay replacement doesn't work well, and has a long road ahead of it
I’ve bought 5 Tahoe’s and an Equinox from GM since 2010. I currently drive a 2018 Tahoe that I’m going to replace in a year or two. If GM is no longer going to support CarPlay in the Tahoe/Yukon my current Tahoe will be my last GM vehicle. Initially I thought that GM was only planning on ending CarPlay support in their EV’s but keeping it for their ICE models. If they’re now planning on ending it for the ICE models as well, their sales are going to get hammered. I will never buy a car that doesn’t have CarPlay or some other easy way to tie my phone into the infotainment system.I’m not sure what GM is planning to monetize. Are they charging a subscription fee for access to GPS? I don’t know what else there is that they could think customers would want to buy from them. If they wanted to control their infotainment system they should have started working on it over a decade ago. Now most drivers are use to having access to CarPlay or Android Auto. Going back to a broken system is going to be a big hell no. -
Paramount+ with Showtime $11.99 price bump starts to hit viewers
I bought a year subscription to commercial free Paramount+ last December for $50. Even though it’s supposed to be commercial free it isn’t all the time. Usually when I watch an episode of a popular recently released show for the first time there ends up being commercials throughout the episode. For example, episode 1 of 1923 had over a dozen commercials in it. Some of the Rabbit Hole episodes had commercials before them and I also couldn’t pause the show, skip forward/back, or stop the show and return to the same spot later. Every single time it sent me back to the beginning of the episode. The only reason I even continue to watch anything on Paramount+ is I’m a fan of all the Taylor Sheridan shows. That said, I will never pay $11.99-$14.99/mo for Paramount+. So after my promo year is up it looks like I’ll just have to use other ways to watch the shows from Paramount that I actually care about. There aren’t many so it shouldn’t be too difficult.
