  • Leaked Apple Silicon roadmap hints at new Mac Pro, MacBook Air

The real hero of the M1 machines is TSMC and their manufacturing performance.   Without them iPhones would be on Samsung chips still and Intel wouldn’t look so bad (ignoring AMD).   So Apple designed it but didn’t build it.
Apple certainly benefits from TSMC's leading manufacturing process.  However, you comment attributes the majority of Apple's success to TSMC and not Apple's own chip design team.  Apple Silicon would still be a better choice on Samsung's process than Intel.  Apple has fundamentally changed expectations for PC chip design.  Nobody else has tried scaling up what's been happening in the smartphone segment.  Why?  Nobody else even on TSMC's manufacturing has beaten Apple.  Why?

  • Steve Wozniak 'can't tell the difference' between iPhone 12 and iPhone 13

What is wrong with you people?

This is Woz, the guy who created Apple.  The Steve who REALLY created apple, not the attention whore Steve who liked taking credit for what Woz did.

And he's absolutely right.  The iPhone 13 is effectively no different than the 12, which is no different than the 11.  Phones are a mature technology, and pretending that a new model every year is somehow going to be an amazing upgrade is idiotic at this point.

"But battery life is better!" - Guess what?  That's not innovation, Apple could have done that all along, all it takes is making the phone thicker so a bigger battery fits inside.  We could have iPhones that work for a week without charging if Apple really gave up on the idiotic thin fetish.
Woz was indeed a brilliant engineer back in the ‘80s.  Sadly, since then, he’s been little more than an irrelevant quote whore for the media.  The media knows this and they continue to take advantage of him when they’re looking for a quick controversial quote from someone who is quite irrelevant today.

  • Apple's iPad marketshare growing in declining tablet market

I thought Chromebooks were going to kill off the iPad.
Chromebook found their niche with school districts.  It makes sense.  The needs of most students are pretty basic.  Most schools have incompetent IT departments and Chromebooks are very easy to administer.  Combine that with a low price to match school district's low budgets and you have a "winning" combination.  I say that with quotes, because with Chromebook, there are now winners.

Chromebook maybe not, but Kindle does. Well audience is different: those who read books and learn and those who spent/waste time playing with apps.

Kindles are in now way shape or form replacements for real tablets like iPads.  If you want a dedicated reader.  Fine.  Kindle does the job fairly well.  For general purpose tablet use??  No way.

  • No, Apple is not making better products because Jony Ive left

Jony Ive is a talented designer.  However, his quest for minimalism definitely led to form over function designs.  When Jobs past, nobody was in position to keep him in check.  At the end of the day, as the designer, he bares responsibility for flawed designs.  Attempting to deny this in ridiculous articles like this doesn’t change the facts.
A lot of odd supposition from people who clearly are not industrial designers and are shooting hot takes from the hip with half a clip.

LOL... there is no need to be an industrial designer to know that the "Chief Design Officer" at Apple was ultimately responsible for such design decisions.  Seriously, your comment is like suggesting the CFO isn't responsible for a company's financial statements.  I'm not an accountant either, yet I understand where the responsibility belongs.  You should look into that.
