  • Apple's Greg Joswiak argues most people will keep iOS 12's Screen Time on, change behavior...

I turned it on and find the info quite interesting. I would say it makes me think more about how much I'm looking at my phone, and sometimes I'm amazed how much time is spent on certain items. He's right, I would have guessed wrong on my own usage. However, I can finally prove to my wife she's on her phone much more than I am. That alone makes it my favorite iOS 12 feature.
Boy you said it.  My wife's favorite refrain was, "You are always on your phone..." and I kept telling her that when iOS12 drops we are going to see who is really on their phone the most.  The very first week my average usage was about 4 hours a day for all devices which included our nightly viewing of a 30 minute sitcom on my iPad and me reading our daughter a book most nights. Her usage (drum roll please) was more than 5 hours.  I haven't heard the "You are always on your phone" meme since.

I think the ScreenTime function could be (and likely will be) further improved.  I would like an actual report that could be saved so I can reference back, as well as the ability to have custom reports with other time frames (not just a week, but a month or 6 months, etc.)   I would also like to be able to make my own categories for apps and customize reports to discount those categories for usage.  (For example I would like to "white list" iBooks).

I have it on but it will result in 0 change in use habits for me. Doubt it’ll change anyone I know.
Everyone will, of course, decide for themselves what they find healthy or "healthy enough" with their device usage just like they do with eating habits, exercise, sleep, etc.  In my case though, I have altered my usage (less time playing games) now that I can see how much time I was wasting there.  I only play casual games, but at the beginning my games accounted for more that 50% of my total usage.  Now games account for about a third and I would like to drop it to 25% (without increasing my overall usage), but I frequently go over my limit on days where I'm waiting for something (transit, pick up/drop off kids, before an appointment, etc.).

  • Apple Watch Series 4: Should you upgrade?

I have a four year old SE IPhone,
No you don't. Even if you had bought an SE on the day it launched (March 31, 2016) it would be just less than 2.5 years old.  Even the A9 chisp that is in it which debuted in the iPhone 6S, is now "only" 3 years old.
I don't know why everyone keeps dumping on the SE like it is some ancient piece of tech.  It is older for sure, but it is 2 whole generations (counting by the A9 chipset) newer than the oldest iPhone that is compatible with iOS12.  Apple will likely support it with iOS13 as well (based on track record) which means 2 more years (Sept 2018-Sept 2020) of serviceable life.
TBH, I would have been preordering its successor had Apple made one, but they didn't.  Since my wife really prefers a smaller phone, we have decided to stay with her SE for now since it is still supported and perfectly usable (especially with the improvements seen from iOS12).  Of course YMMV, but let's stop the whole "my SE is completely useless now that it is 100 years old" meme.

  • Apple drops bundled 3.5mm adapters from all new iPhones, sticks with 5W USB-A power

Glad they’ve got rid of the adapter, I never once used it anyway, 5w charger was expected.
There was a significant percentage of people who were convinced that the chargers included with the new iPhones would be bumped up to a USB-C (PD) version.  There was a post in early July of pictures of an 18W USB-C charger than some felt convinced was going to be included in the new iPhones in September.

    https://forums.appleinsider.com/discussion/206147/apples-mini-18w-usb-c-charger-may-be-real-after-all/p2

I think @Melgross will be particularly disappointed by the continued inclusion of the 5W charger with the iPhone as will @Nunzy@Avon%20b7 ;, and probably a small but significant portion of other users who feel that an included Fast Charging capable brick would help the value proposition of the new phones.  These folks are probably right in the long term, but not enough of potential buyers see it as a must right now (at least in Apple's opinion apparently).

As I mentioned in the post on the rumored 18W charger, t
he iPhone has lots of capabilities that require additional equipment (at an additional cost) to utilize such as video out via Lightning, SD card input, wireless charging, Bluetooth audio streaming etc.  Fast Charging seems to be remaining on that list for the time being.  Depending on market forces, there may come a time where Apple includes a faster charger in the box with iPhones.  Perhaps next year if they want to leave the entry price of the 2019 XR (or its successor) at $749 this could be an easy throw in to increase its perceived value if there isn't a lot of new HW features added. Only time will tell.

  • Apple inadvertently leaks images of new 'iPhone XS'

I know Schiller would prefer it as 10, but I have got used to hearing it as eX and so have adopted saying if that way too. Wierdly I always say 10 when I’m speaking about iPhone X in other languages though; go figure!

  • Apple issues AirPort Express firmware update adding support for AirPlay 2

Lol, there were quite a few commenters poo-pooing the chance of this ever happening when discussed previously.  Good work, Apple!
Yep, I decided to round them up and give them a shout out.  This way we know to give their predictions (especially in such absolutest terms) the respect they deserve.  And the Hall of Fame-rs are:

@Hagar --Just let it go already. This is never going to happen.
    @Metriacanthosaurus --Flat out: Not happening.

    Honorable mentions:

@Fallenjt --AirPort Express hardware is too old. It doesn't even support 802.11 AC.
@Pbrutto --Not only has their been no indication of a router update but their have been multiple stories saying Apple is completely out of the router business now going back months. So, why do you think they may be updated?
@Bradford_kirby --The airport express is over.

There were a few more that could have been put in the honorable mention category, but their comments seemed more like reasonable opinions than snarky critiques of Apple and the fans that held out hope that Apple could squeeze a little more life out of a great product that is riding into the sunset.

You track and document the passing commentary of other posters here regarding minutia like this? Seems a bit much.
I’ll admit that it seems petty AF, but I’m also really tired of the dismissive attitude some people have regarding other’s opinions. You can disagree with a post or an article, but do it should be done with the same tone you would have face to face.
