  • The Smartphone Endgame: Who wins once shipment volumes peak?

Apple defeating every competitor while the journalists keep reporting its death. Daniel Eran Dilger embarrassing the pundits from every major publication which all routinely minimize Apple while trumpeting the success of those companies that win by giving away products. If the Wall Street Journal had a brain it would offer DED a lot of money to oversee its personal technology reporting and analysis.. The Wall Street Journal does not have a brain.

  • Apple confirms HomePod audio sources limited to Apple Music, iTunes purchases, podcasts & ...

Would it be too much to ask of a $350 mono speaker that it at least have an AUX audio input? Then it could play whatever the customer wants to play.

Kinda defeats the purpose of their goal to make everything truly wireless. 🤷🏽‍♂️ They clearly made this to a specific cup of tea not be a jack of all trades. So yes, you’re asking too much. That the HomePod clearly isn’t for you.
There is far more to be gained by making the HomePod more useful than by some religious need to make it "purely wireless". I have an excellent wireless speaker from WrenSound, which had the good sense to also include an audio input. It is just common sense to give the user a few choices. Especially when you are charging a lot more than your main competition.

  • Apple's first HomePod ads urge customers to 'order now'

Great ads. Make me want to go get my ho's and my bitches and, well, nevermind.

  • Everything Apple has promised to add to HomePod in future updates

This product release is the absolute worst I have ever seen at Apple.   Hyped 6 months before the promised release with very little information.   No true product keynote demonstration to generate excitement.   The release date is missed.  A full Christmas buying season missed.   The product launched with no compelling marketing presentation or information prior to the release.   Key features that were promised deleted in the initial release with no date given for when they will appear.   No reviews in advance of the release to generate excitement.

    A total FUBAR product release.
