  • A new iPhone 16e survey overlooks who the device is for

The 16e is a fine phone…for $459 to $499. $599 is just too high for a ‘budget phone’. Their target audience for this won’t give a tinkers damn about Apple Intelligence. They just want a phone they can do things on that’s inexpensive. This isn’t. You can get a 14 that will do them for four or so years for a lot less. You can get a 15 for about the same price and is a better iPhone. You can get Android phones for less with better specs.

  • Folding iPhone will probably cost more than the Mac Studio

Nope, it will be different. Do you have any idea IF/WHEN the next AV or AVP will launch? That won't be the situation with foldables. It will have an annual refresh cadence. And that alone would be a game changer. With yearly refresh, the prices would come down steadily and new versions would be more affordable than the initial version. Also, there is not too much to think (in relative terms when compared to AV/AVP) about which direction to take, once the decision to launch foldable is made by Apple. They will have a clear plan for subsequent 5 years on what to launch. Even if any adjustments need to be made mid-cycle, it won't be as daunting/challenging like AVP.
When have iPhone prices come down?

  • Amazon to kill Echo's local voice processing feature in favor of Voice ID [u]

I’ll add this to my (very long) list of reasons I avoid if at all possible doing business with Amazon.

  • iPhone 17 lineup names may be coming into focus

That’s what I would not be surprised to see too. +$100-$200 on all models because of the new name.

Steve Jobs would be rolling in his grave. He wanted a simple product lineup. The average consumer is going to glaze over with this many options.
Agreed. Good-Better-Best that’s it. I’ve mentioned before that Apple’s product lines are starting to remind me of the bad old days of the ‘90s.
