  • FineWoven won't be missed, but it should be remembered

Am I wrong to believe that animals are not killed for their leather alone? Would it not be better to source real leather, certified to be a by-product only?
That’s my understanding, that most leather is a byproduct from beef and other food production,

But for those concerned about using leather, Otter makes cases made of what they call Cactus Leather. It’s made from plants, not plastic like FineWoven. Reviews have said it’s much better than Apple’s product.

  • Big-name publishers are refusing to let Apple Intelligence train on data

Good, all sites should. Not just Apple’s AI, block all of them, and sue them out of existance if they break in.

There is simply no trust for smart home devices.  No thanks.
I agree. I have no interest in relying on my phone to work door locks, outside lights, thermostats, or curtains. I just don’t see the upside.
My thermostat also can be managed via my iPad in addition to my phone.
That’s one of those use cases that I really wonder why you would do that. I bought a programmable thermostat ~10 years ago. I programmed it when it was first installed and other than changing batteries every couple of years I have never had to do anything to it. People keep talking about how great it is to be able to adjust the temp from their phone, especially when they aren’t home. I simply don’t ever need to do that. My thermostat takes care of itself.

  • The Mac mini doesn't sell in huge volumes, but is a crucial part of Apple's ecosystem

I’m waiting for the new Mini to come out to replace my 27” intel iMac. I don’t want to drop $3k+ on a Mini and Studio Display, but I want retina scaling and I REALLY don’t want a 24” screen. So what’s a guy to do?
The absence of the 27” iMac is likely driving more Mac Mini sales. I also suspect most will go outside the Apple ecosystem for a monitor rather than shell out for the Studio Display. Lost opportunity for Apple.
I got two ASUS 28” 4k monitors that look pretty good. I got them off of Best Buys refurbished page, ~$900 for the pair.
