  • Florida wants Apple & Google to label apps made outside US

I got news for a lot of you, software “produced in America” likely uses coders located remotely all over the world. A statement that it was American software would mean nothing in many cases. Example: the number of antivirus and computer security companies using their core engine and data from Kaspersky. The software may be made in the US, but the important part is Russian.

  • Future Apple Watch band could change color based on what you wear

That might justify Apple’s price for their bands.
To each their own, obviously there’s a market for junk bands, I just don’t want to participate in it.
I respect that. I used the original band, a black magnetic one for a year, and then replaced it with a Braided Sport Loop. They are great bands. But the BSL is now $129 here in Canada. Worse yet the BSL slowly relaxes and by this winter was too loose. So rather than ordering another one I picked up a set of bands that are stretchy like the BSL, but also adjustable so I can correct if the stretchiness declines. This is a feature the BSL should have rather than discrete sizes.  Cost? A three pack, black, blue, and red, for $17. Ok, they might not last like iron like the Apple leather band but it will be a long time before I spend as much total as the Apple band costs. Like you said to each their own.

  • Microsoft Office with AI text generation coming as soon as March

Yeah, this will end well. Just an hour ago I came across this article.

    https://futurism.com/neoscope/magazine-mens-journal-errors-ai-health-article

MAGAZINE PUBLISHES SERIOUS ERRORS IN FIRST AI-GENERATED HEALTH ARTICLE

THE OWNERS OF SPORTS ILLUSTRATED AND MEN’S JOURNAL PROMISED TO BE VIRTUOUS WITH AI. THEN THEY BUNGLED THEIR VERY FIRST AI STORY — AND ISSUED HUGE CORRECTIONS WHEN WE CAUGHT THEM.

  • Revamped 'Myst Mobile' lands on iPad, iPhone

    A couple of final thoughts:

It is gorgeous. They used the Unreal engine and put every tiny detail you can imagine. Little things like a spot of bird poop on one of the structures, or a missing screw or a crack somewhere, leaves moving in the breeze as you walk around. Makes you realize how far graphics have come.

This comes at a price. It really sucks battery on my iPad. This thing is working hard to compute every moment, every step, every leaf moving in the wind, the moving waves rendered in exquisite detail, of every scene as you are actively walking around.

They stayed true to the original in one way: There is no autosave, not when you change worlds, not when you leave. I forgot this, played for half an hour and then was surprised when I went back later, to find that I was starting over. Remember to save.
