  • Apple boasts iPad Pro packaging is 99% made from sustainable forests

I guess I’d like to know more about what they’re doing. Buying vulnerable forests is great but it sounds like they then cut them down to make boxes, which isn’t really preserving them. That can’t be right, I’d just like to know what they are doing. For starters, just what do they mean by vulnerable forestland?

How are Meta / Zuckerberg “right”?   This seems a clear cut case of a digital service being sold in-app.
Exactly right, it is services sold in app, and they have no business demanding a cut from sales outside of Apple’s system. It’s not their app. It was wrong when they started it. Wrong is wrong, and this has always been wrong, unethical, abusive, whatever you want to call it. It will end up hurting them and us when the people screaming “monopoly” use this to force them to allow other stores on the platform. From day one I thought this was a very bad thing for Apple to do. A huge blunder. A massive mistake. Absolutely 100% unethical.

  • Elon Musk moving forward on Twitter deal, and might mean it this time

What’s going to be funny is the scale of this failure. He has said that he was going to clean up Twitter, let it be a free speech zone, and eliminate the bots. These are mutually exclusive, and contradictory wishes. What’s more, if he fails at any of them, he fails. If he does something the current users don’t like, he fails. If he does nothing he fails. If he tries something totally out of left field and overhauls how Twitter works and operates, it won’t work, and he fails. There is literally no way Musk can do anything with Twitter without looking like he screwed up, and without losing a s***ton of money. He literally cannot win this one. Musk thought he was the golden boy that could do no wrong, and is about to be proven terribly wrong.

  • Apple updates iWork apps with macOS Ventura & iPadOS 16 features

If Apple wants iWork to be taken seriously and be a viable alternative to Office and Docks; they need to first rebrand it, solve for the enterprise market, adopt an enterprise friendly mental model, and include a robust email client. Right now it just screams amateur with an unpredictable roadmap.
{sigh} As much as I use and like Pages, I have to agree, It’s a good Word Processor, it does everything I need, but it still feels a bit unfinished, not really up to the level of a Word. I say that as someone that HATES Office and the Ribbon.
