  • Senator opposes breaking up big tech, says Chinese firms will fill the void

Part of the problem is they keep lumping together companies that have nothing to do with each other.
This isn’t like Big Oil, or Big Steel, or even the oft repeated Big Pharma. These companies use computers, but that’s about the only thing they have in common.

If someone wants to go after Amazon or Google, then go after them. But saying they are going to crack down on Big Tech, is a code word for not doing anything.

  • How to run Mac OS 8 in an app inside Catalina

Sounds like a talented individual. Has he done anything productive that improves the world or makes a dent in the universe?
John Cleese has said that he was on track to become a Barrister, but then he either saw, or was on a chat program with a famous actor/comedian/entertainer. That was when he realized that a serious career was fine, but it was just as important to make people smile, to make them happy. Because of that he went into writing, which led to Monty Python, and from there the rest.

So yes the person who programmed this has done something productive. He made something that will make people smile.

  • Kosovo asks Apple to 'correctly present' its borders in Apple Maps

    A minefield.
But the fact, as stated in the article, that over half of the countries in the world recognize Kosovo would suggest that they mark it as an international border.
But that would get them in trouble in Serbia, and more significantly Russia, Serbia's strongest ally. China would also likely be annoyed.
Maybe Google's solution is the best.

  • Apple scrutinized for 'Find My' restrictions placed on third-party developers

I have reasonable confidence that Apple isn’t going to use the information for tracking me—not because I’m a wide eyed sheeple, but because Apple makes their money from selling premium hardware and increasingly by selling associated services. Loss of user trust would cost them tremendously.
If some crappy app developer could figure out a way to monetize tracking of users—they might have no incentive to be a good actor. If people figure out what they are doing and get upset they can sneak tracking into another app under another name.

I ABSOLUTELY want Apple to have stringent rules for third party access to the find my platform.
I was thinking of up-voting, but you used the word sheeple.
Poof all of your credibility is gone.

  • Uniloc denied chance to 'excessively' seal information in patent dispute with Apple

    From The Article
“In 2019, Apple and Intel filed a lawsuit against SoftBank-owned Fortress and accused the company -- and related firms like Uniloc -- of violating U.S. antitrust laws through its patent litigation“

That’s an interesting tactic. If they can show that these spurious suits are in fact harming competition and innovation, that might be a chink in the armour of these patent troll firms. Might be able to go after them and hit them where it hurts.
