  • Judicial panel orders consolidation of 61 iPhone throttling lawsuits, case to be heard in ...

Being forced to consolidate lawsuits should be illegal. It seems to be a violation of due process. If a person or group of people wanted to join a class-action lawsuit, they'd join a class-action lawsuit.
"All 61 parties support coordination of the suits" - Doesn't sound like it was forced.

  • 15-inch MacBook Pro refresh could have Intel's new six-core i9 processor

Still waiting for a 13-inch MB Pro with the 8th gen quad core processor. Don't need the touch bar, can live with two USB-C ports, but gimme those 4 cores

That "marzipan" project to integrate iOS apps and the macOS desktop has me curious.  Running iOS apps on a mac without a touch screen is a horrible experience.  I can't help to think that having an iPad that can also run macOS (A MacPad if you will) is a much better solution.  This would provide exciting new capabilities for the iPad - including popular mac apps like Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Xcode.  MacOS also has some exciting new benefits - High refresh rate displays with Apple pencil support and an extremely portable solution with LTE capabilities.  Maybe this event will be the unveiling ... I know they claimed they would never make such a product but I think it would be foolish not too.  The iPad needs to grow beyond the "Big Phone App" experience .. and macOS is the logical next step.
MacOS on iPad will be a horrible user experience.  Desktop apps are designed with small targets, cursor position awareness, keyboard+mouse combinations etc.  That is the entire reason iOS UI was designed for touch input from the ground up (even as it shares the kernel with MacOS).  This experiment has already been tried by MS tablets with epic failure.  Apple will never do that.

  • Apple's MacBook sales growth may outpace both iPhone and iPad this year

Update the MacBook with a second port - any port!! - and I will buy a maxed-out one this year for sure. If not, I will wait patiently to see what's in store for 2019.
I hear ya!  But really, the Macbook is Apple's solution for iPad-Runs-MacOS-Apps.
One data+charging port (along with the headphone port).  Charge overnight, use all day.  Keyboard included.

Still can’t believe MagSafe is gone. When I got my first (and only) MacBook in 2012, I thought was this is an amazingly practical feature. But that’s Apple these days, kill prefect fine features in the name of thickness (lack thereof).
It's not gone... yet. This article is reporting on conjecture. But it is highly likely that Magsafe will disappear from the lineup with the next revision. It would be nice if Digitimes and I were wrong on this. Magsafe is the one of the best hardware features that Apple has come up with.
I also believe MagSafe was a great innovation. But with new battery tech and all-day batteries, the need for MagSafe is greatly reduced.  At home, my MBA and my wife's Macbook get charged overnight and are used without plugging in.  At work, my 15-inch MBP is always plugged-in (except when going to meetings), pretty much like a desktop.  I see no difference in practlicality for the three laptops even though the MBA has MagSafe and the other two don't.
