  • iOS app porting won't make Mac feel like iPhone, Apple's Federighi says

I'm all for the idea of making it easier to share code between projects.  Having hung around the cross platform world forever, I'm glad that they are going this route.  Trying to have one app that magically runs on mac and ios would be too problematic for my taste.  I think this will be good, I just don't have time to deal with it right now.

  • macOS Mojave will drop support for some older Macs released before 2012

I'm going to be in the market for a new MBP later this year.  My 2011 didn't make the cut, obviously.  I prefer to buy in the front end of a hardware cycle and we are on the back end, so I'll wait for a new MBP.  Just wish that i7 MBP rumor had been true, and I would already have one on order.  I'll limp through the rest of this year.  I've had a 7.5 year run with this MBP.  That's pretty good.  I upgraded it from 8 to 16 gigs, stuffed a 2 TB SSD into it.  Nothing to complain about there.  I had to send it in for service once due to the display craziness a few years ago, but it survived.  IIRC, I dropped it off at an apple store on a Friday and it was back on Monday/Tuesday the following week, so that was good.  It wasn't promised to be returned until the following week, so that worked out.  I've had similar experience with Dell and Lenovo to, so its not like Apple is overwhelmingly different in under promising and over delivering.

I just don't like the direction of non upgradeability of the macs now.  Apple prices their stuff on the high end.  It is good hardware, but I don't consider it to be the best.  Basically, I have to pay a premium just to do iOS development.  Oh well, such is life.

  • Probable 'iPhone SE 2' exposed by European regulatory agency

My wife wants an upto date 4” iPhone. Not last years model. Not a 4.7” iphone, but a 4” iphone that is upto date internally. My hope is that this would be it. Too bad by the time our contract is up, it will be last years model again.....sad trombone.

  • Activists stage 'die-ins' at French Apple stores to protest impact of tax avoidance on soc...

Apple has shareholders to answer to.  If Tim Cook starts doing things that are not aligned with shareholders, such as paying more taxes than is agreed to with a government tax authority, he would have to face his shareholders.  Would shareholders vote him out?  Probably not at this time.  If protestors want to actually have a voice in this scenario, they should buy stock and present at the shareholder’s meeting regarding why Apple should pay more taxes to France and give less back in shareholder value.

now, the question comes up as to who are the people that Apple answers to.  The answer is shareholders, employees, customers, and to people in general.  I’m definitely not from the Monty Burns view of capitalism, I hate these giveaways and sweetheart deals.  I’m also not for foolishly giving money away either.  If you entered into an agreement, then you entered into an agreement.  They could also take their case to the EU and France.
