Blood oxygen sensor, Touch ID rumored for 'watchOS 7,' Apple Watch 'Series 6'

I'm guessing that it's 3 hours of life on LTE when on a phone call, but just being a connected and doing normal stuff should get you about a day. Tom Guide's says, "Samsung says the LTE version lasts about 24 to 36 hours on a charge, depending on which size watch you buy, but I didn’t get a chance to test an LTE model." That's what you expect from your always on iPhone compared to actual phone call time with your iPhone. -
'iPhone SE 2' not dead, but won't be the same size as the original says Ming-Chi Kuo
I prefer the iPhone 5 form factor. I have an iPhone 7 (company) phone sitting on the shelf, using the company SIM in a good old iPhone 5S instead. The 7 rarely leaves the shelf, but has got a private SIM and is connected to my Apple Watch for private calls and messaging.
If the watch could hook up to an iPad with dual voice capability SIM’s, I think that would have done it for me, but I guess a new SE with the old-school form factor would suffice.
I don’t really see why anyone should want to carry around lots of fragmented screen estate; 6,5 inch iPhone in their pants, 12,9 inch iPad in their bag. What’s next; slapping an iPhone 6 on their wrists, calling it an Apple Watch series 6?! -
The TextBlade keyboard is superb, but you'll have to be patient
It makes me kind of sad to read this article.
I’ve been using a Nokia SU-8W folding keyboard for 12 years now, but it is starting to perform a bit shaky. Some keys suddenly goes unresponsive and certain sets of keys no longer works with the shift key (but still with caps lock and, luckily, with auto-correction).
I haven’t heard about the Textblade before, but it sure seem like an intriguing product. I really would have loved to get my hands on one to replace the ageing Nokia, but with this kind of contradictionary reporting vs. comments I’m not really inclined to line up.
It’s almost as if WayTools don’t want any customers. How can they show ”pallets of finished TextBlades” to AppleInsider when customers who pre-ordered the product years ago received none? Strange indeed. Maybe they’re striving for some kind of elitist approach to customer relationship? -
Apple in 2019: surviving iPhone challenges like the 1990s Microsoft
Very good article, indeed. I wonder what sits behind closed lab doors at Apple and other vendors? It would seem as if there aren’t any truly disruptive technologies ready to replace the smartphone quite yet. What we’re seeing right now is kind of mundane iterations of a product category that reached its peak maybe a (couple of) year (-s) ago.
One concept I personally would like to see materialized is the opportunity to use one device across several user scenarios, as with the Microsoft Continuum line. Their example was poorly executed with too many compromises, but with the eventual convergence between iOS and MacOS it could be really useful. We’re already seeing bits and pieces, like the handoff feature or the ability to use and iPad/iPhone as an extended display for the Mac. Let’s go the full nine yards, using a single iDevice to plug in both at work and at home, as well as to connect to the slave screen/keyboard combo during the train commute.
I mean, with an Apple Watch 4 LTE and a pair of Airpods you can already take calls and perform most basic PDA tasks. What if the watch could also connect to whatever ”slave” screen and keyboard available and, preferably, integrated in the seatback and coffee tray in front of you? -
New report backs claims 2018 iPhones will support Apple Pencil
I think Apple Pencil support on iPhones would be good as an option for people who likes the phablet form factor.
As for myself, I’d prefer the larger screen estate offered by an iPad when working/writing and to be able to keep my ”phone” on my wrist. Being able to couple the Apple Watch with an iPad, instead of having to also rely on an (shelved) iPhone, would be ideal.
