  • tvOS 18.6 improves speed & stability for Apple TV users

Their own new shows are not prominently featured
Where do I buy this version?  I absolutely loath the Apple TV+ experience.  Every second that I am not watching a show or movie it is trying to jam video into my face.  Content that I am not interested in and have no way of telling them 'do not show me this ever again'.  I cancelled my subscription - Amazon Video is less obnoxious.

The only saving grace is that you can leave yourself in "Library" and the app remembers that when you start it back up again.  Just don't accidentally back out too far or the onslaught begins again.

  • Apple's AI rollout leaves Siri behind & long-time fans are asking questions

It's not unusual for Apple to talk to iJustine. What is, is that for the first time since 2015, Apple executives didn't appear on The Talk Show with John Gruber during WWDC week.

In 2024 Gruber described universities attempting (however badly) to respect the first amendment of the Constitution as living in "bizarro-world". I cut him out of my life as well. (yes, politics I guess)

  • EU repair laws start June 20 - How compliant is Apple?

    charlesn said:
I really wish Apple would release data on how many people are actually using its self-repair options. Would love to know what tiny fraction of 1% all of this "right to repair" legislation is designed to serve.
While it would be nice to know, Apple certainly knew that nobody (in the general sense) cares about repairing phones (or computers for that matter) and that allowed them to use manufacturing methods that resulted in more reliable and less expensive phones*.  Everybody wins, except for that fraction you mentioned.

Apple's net profit percentage is practically a constant.  If they are forced to use more expensive manufacturing techniques, you can be sure you'll pay for it.

    * less expensive: less raw materials, less energy, less environmental impact.  Apple's use of glue has reduced the environmental impact of iPhones more than the right to repair programs ever will.

  • App Store changes look like a free ride to some developers

I'm waiting for Apple to start selling the "Apple Phone".  No App Store, just Apple's preinstalled software.  The beginning of the end of Apple's egalitarian experiment.

  • UK trial over Apple's App Store fees seeks $1.83B fine

The App Store is an Apple product.  Saying that Apple has a monopoly on it is like saying that Ford has a monopoly on the F-150.
